Announcement - Big Changes to the Crypto Community - Feather, Phenix and World
-
Update: June 25, 2013
It’s a done deal. :) Feathercoin will be in active partnership with 2 other major alt coins to provide a wider range of services to our customers. We couldn’t be happier with the direction and already exchanging ideas how to best utilize these new resources. We have another meeting this weekend to start discussing announcements and development schedule.
With Litecoin moving to Gox, they’ve essentially moved from an alternate currency to one of the majors. We wish them the best as they compete with Bitcoin in that consumer space. There’s a new upper tier in the alt community, I believe the partnership we’ve established are the leading coins.
Who are these coins? The announcement will be made within the next few weeks. Once all 3 coins have our next meeting, we’ll have a better idea on a central release strategy. I’m excited, I feel this is one of the biggest moves that’s been made in the alt currency space in a long time.

Overview
With Litecoin heading to Mt.Gox (looks like this time it’s actually going to happen), there’s going to be a new top tier of “alt” coins. As we are all aware, Feathercoin is one of the ones leading that category. With the creation of endless coins (without any support) flooding the market, Feathercoin is taking a proactive stance. While Bushstar is working his #$@# off on development, I happily shoulder the responsibility of adding value and exposure to the coin.
The Coming Weeks
In the coming weeks, you’ll see announcements of strategic partnerships with other top tier coins. Nothing will change in terms community development, direction of the coin or even mining. I want to make that very clear upfront. The goal is protect the and promote the top coins while sharing resources. Looking at some of your logos, looks like you already support the same coins. :)
Examples
Here’s a few examples of how this partnership could work:
Let’s assume there’s 3 coins in this agreement (Coin A, B, C)
1. Coin A develops a gaming platform. They invite Coin B and Coin C to have tables in their platform exclusively.
2. Coin B is under a 51% attack, Coin A and C urge others in their community to temporarily add some hash to protect the allied coin.
** Updated ** This assumes:
A. The advanced checkpoint system was in place
B. It didn’t put any of the other partners at risk3. Coin C develops a press release concerning X. Coin C mentions Coin A and B while the other coins do something similar.
4. All 3 coins have giveaways for larger prize pools
5. Coin A needs help finishing a project. Coin B and Coin C offer development resources knowing Coin A will do the same in the future.
6. Coin B is being attacked by ‘cool kids’ in the forums with FUD. Coin A forum member notices and either stands up or notifies someone. We now have eyes everywhere.
7. (Added: June 23) All 3 coins could sell alt coin packs (BTC/LTC), these packs would include the 3 coin types. Those that sold the coin, would then buy back into their own coin.
Etc… etc…
We Still Maintain Doing Our Own Thing
We still do our own push, our own promotion, our own development… but we work to provide resources for those that are willing to do the same.
You Want To See FTC Value
We’re still just chit chatting, but it’s coming. You know I’ve talked about building bridges from the beginning. When Yaccoin happened to produce a very similar website… I didn’t go bashing them in the forums. I contacted their leaders, asked how we could assist them in developing a new one and build some mutual respect between our communities.
You want value, I get it. This is how we protect our investment, we start acting like the market leaders in the true alts.

I will tell you this… outside of my full time job, Feathercoin is basically all I ever think about. I don’t worry about my investment, I think about every single one of you that volunteer time with us. I think about the guy that’s been mining for the week and managed to pull down 50 coins, I think about the forum member that’s taking time away from friends to offer support in our forums. Your time and energy is important, I never take it for granted.
Feathercoin, it’s my first thought when I wake up and the last one before I fall asleep… that’s the straight up truth.
We have something special here… I plan to protect it with your help. -
I guess my only pessimistic view point on the sharing of hash power is that if all coins (say top 3) are under attack at the same time there isn’t much to protect but your own.
This seems counterintuitive to a certain extent. I haven’t dont the specific math on it but Im guessing right now even if 3 top alt coins joined in an alliance like this, all three could be attacked at the same time and not be able to help each other.
Just saying what I see. :)
Ah, I’m assuming we’ll eventually be able to grab some from Litecoin. :) I would say that’s the minor point, the shared services is certainly the big purpose. You’re absolutely right, that wouldn’t be helpful right this minute… but it could be when the advanced checkpointing is setup.

Fantastic news. This is a proactive and positive direction to move in. It will do nothing but demonstrate that we are dedicated as a community across all coin platforms to get this to mainstream and become a valid currency for as many folk as possible.
Going from strength to strength. Keep up the awesome work guys.
Sing out if you need a hand with anything at all.

I think this is brilliant news, well done for getting it done. I think the attack problem will recede, as the network increases. Co-operation, stability and openness are the factors that will engender the trust required to run a real alternative currency.
Wow, your making me think we can do it…
P.S. I just noticed Feathercoin now has a greater hash than Litecoin and in the end we will need to be the bigger hash to handle the massive amount of transactions. Wooo HoOOO… :)

One major coin is already coming aboard, I’m working on having a nice in-depth discussion with the 2nd coin [s]early this[/s] [s]week[/s] tonight.
-
Talking now with the developer of the second coin. I promised progress, 2:20am, here we go.
-
Next Step:
Arranging a meeting with members from each of their teams to hash out the details. Looks like this is going to happen. We’re talking about alliance logos, marketing, shared resources, etc… etc…
3:30am, headed to bed.

This is ADSactly what the Cryptocoin World Needs! We all need to Form an Alliance and Protect Feathercoin, PPC, and LTC I don’t know about CNC I don’t really trust that one much.

I’m betting one of the coins is Phenixcoin :)
Anyways, my money are on the coins being Phenixcoin and Yacoin haha. Send me FTC if I’m right! Just kidding xD Look forward to seeing our partners.
-
I hope we grab Yacoin and some other alt.
I really think having a good cpu based coin would be a good thing for the market as we can have power users target their cpus at it and have a coin that is friendly to new or beginner users. Yacoin needs a lot of work and could do well if paired with us. I see the market being able to support one good ASIC coin, a good GPU coin, and a good CPU coin. There are plenty of GPU alt competitors and no real CPU based options that are as refined as BTC, LTC, FTC.
As for the other alt…its not CNC…i am on the fence about being paired with LTC and I have no idea what the next best option would be.
-
With LTC’s upcoming move to Gox, I don’t even consider them an alt coin anymore. They will be competing against Bitcoin in a completely different market. We wish them the best.
Thats what I was thinking.
The other maybe one of the older, but struggling alts. They may have seen the pulled news from Btc-e and realised that they are in danger too. My money is on PPC.
