Litecoin's Coblee steps in -- Please be respectful if commenting
-
What started as a simple posting about Feathercoin, turned into the typical Bitcointalk conversations. While I certainly wouldn’t want Coblee trying to explain free market principles in one of my lectures, he did step in to speak about how Litecoin was launched and how he believes most Litecoin clones will fail.
Just a request, if you want to participate in the discussion, please continue to represent the FTC community in the best light.

Coblee and I have a VERY different view of the free market and that’s completely okay. I’m fine with the way Bushstar released the coin. I wasn’t involved until days later, that’s my only regret with the launch. :) The coin was released, it was up to members of the community to decide to take a chance on it or not.
While I can appreciate if you spend enough time on a forum, it can seem like the entire world. This hardcore mentality happens in all communities in it’s infancy before JoeUser eventually steps in. With the upcoming plans, be prepared to have a much bigger spotlight on this community.

If you do comment on the post, it would be nice to hear about it here.

This is what I replied with on page 3
I usually shrug off any comments like these I see, but I absolutely love how you guys have such a bone to pick that you have to hijack an update thread. Justabitoftime isn’t even trying to promote the coin here so much as he is just letting people know of something NEW happening in the crypto community. You want something new? Here it is and you guys STILL don’t like it. Anyways figured I’d point out some of your broad misconceptions.
1. An unannounced release? Yes. Unfair? No, that’s in the eye of the person discussing it. To be honest most people working the hardest on the coin are people with low hash rates, as in 2mh/s or less, including the developer Peter. Most of them bought into the coin rather than mined it, so what’s unfair about that?J They bought their coins… all the others dumped it already. As an FYI, justabitoftime, who you speak with here, bought pretty much all the coins he has and has only started making his own rigs to mine last week and now has I think his second rig built.2. You say they’re paid… no they’re not. I may not be that active with posting, but I’ve been with Feathercoin from the start, and whether you care about my knowledge or not the people working on it ARE NOT PAID by ANYONE. Yes, some may get small donations from other members for their time and effort, but that’s it. Justabit, who’s kind enough, actually buys coins with fiat to reward people for helping out. He doesn’t have to, and you make think it’s a bribe, but hey that’s just your opinion.
3. Yes, it’s admitted that Feathercoin, at the moment, is not that much different from Litecoin. That doesn’t mean it won’t be different. Peter and many VOLUNTEERS are working hard to come up with stuff for Feathercoin. Could Feathercoin have been released with new features from the start? Possibly, but in a year down the road or less, people won’t be considering Feathercoin as a copycat if they’re new to cryptos because of all the differences it’ll have by then. Besides, it’s a community managed coin, so only rightly so all the differences between Litecoin and Feathercoin be discussed and suggested by its users. Who knows what better to be in a coin than those who use it? And don’t bash our volunteer programmers for not working on Litecoin to help it become better, if they wanted to, they would’ve. And honestly many people work hard in the community because they’re fueled by your rage and negativity. You give them more of a reason to make it better than you can imagine just to make you lose out for bashing it.
4. Feathercoin’s community didn’t decide its value. Actually its value was HIGHER before the community even started. Sad I know, but goes to show we don’t control its value.
5. Our community didn’t hype the troll box. People from our community were there to clear any stupid FUD you guys come up with, that’s all. Did some of them maybe say some “FTC to da mooooon!” crap? Maybe, but then again every damn coin there has its people saying that. In addition, I was in the troll box myself watching what people said over the weeks and let me tell you, a lot of people saying that initially were not yet part of the Feathercoin community. And yes, I’m not just saying that because I saw them sign up in the forums eventually AFTER I had seen them do their hyping, so please prove to me I’m wrong.
I love how you all bash people for supporting Feathercoin… at least they’re DOING something for the coin they support. That speaks more than all of you people with nothing to do but bash other coins. Are you helping your coins grow? No, you just make its community look like shit by talking shit. You support your coin, we’ll support ours. If you come to want to support Feathercoin too, more power to you and welcome. If you don’t like it, well no one’s forcing it on you. News is news, which is what this thread is. Props to the coins who want to work with others coins because the more there are the stronger they stand.
There’s room for more than one coin. Are coins spewed out as pump and dumps bad? Yes, because no one does anything to them to support it or cryptos in general and it diminishes the value and respect of real ones. But those supported deserve more respect than that. Work is work no matter what kind of work it is and do tell me if the Feathercoin community isn’t working its hardest for it. To me, effort helping the underdog is more respectful than standing under a giant and squishing people around you. I support Feathercoin, I support Phenixcoin, but I also support Bitcoin and Litecoin. I don’t bash you for supporting them, stop bashing us for what we support.
Fantastic!! Thank you.

yeah whatever people are saying in chat box(Btc-e) l believe that this community doing great job.Thank you very much guys.

I just posted a positive comment on the Bitcointalk Forum I believe it is very true and many people should follow my example and get rid of your FIAT Currencies.

I see a real lot of hate coming from Litecoin people in that thread. I admit Bitcoin fans are also far from having deep passion for Feathercoin, but they just don’t care mostly. Alright, acknowledged.

I think thats because, until now, lightcoin has never had any actual competition from any other alt coin. I also think the fact that feathercoin is rapidly gaining ground has as surprised a lot of temp miners who switched from litecoin to mine early blocks and dumped their coins right away. The fact that Feathercoin has accomplished in months what took litecoin years has definitely made some people nervous. :)
This is true. Now people seem to get locked into the view of cryptos as just a currency. The put the mindset of it being “just” like a dollar bill. Yes it is a currency but it is also software. ANY software that doesn’t consistently try to improve itself will stagnate then something else will come along.
Also, one of the things cryptos have in common with paper currencies is the worry about counterfeiting. A neat laser printer for fiat and a 51% with crypto. Countries are always trying to find a better paper/cloth substitute for their money. Cryptos will always have to worry about some type of hack attempt. Not working on “any” countermeasures is foolish, even for the paper currencies. -
I’m going OT, but oh well … when countries put out new bills counterfeiting becomes very easy, for awhile, due to unfamiliarity with the new look. The USD will experience this same counterfeiting when all the pretty holographic bills go into circulation. Think someone can’t pull off that hologram? They don’t have to. All they need to do (already done) is have a similar looking neat shimmery effect and people new to the bill will not know the difference, so they take it.
Anyway, back to the discussion …

Interesting, start a thread saying that there should be more collaboration and end up getting abuse from the BitcoinTalk forum.
Be careful Justabitoftime. Jesus said people should treat others as they want to be treated themselves and they nailed him to a cross :)

Bush’s reply about Litecoin having been mined 1.4 million equivalent coins compared to FTCs 2 million was very informative. Never knew that earlier - would be useful to combat all those ‘2 mil was mined in 7 hours’ trolls.

Yea people can’t do math lol. And then they argue also that “Oh, Litecoin had no GPU’s, so it was fairer”. Well… if we take that in account, and a decent low end gpu can bring in 100kh/s at least, that’s at least 2x the power of a high end home CPU. So if we do the math, if every miner had only one gpu and it was a low end one bringing in 100kh/s, then 2.8m coins should have been mined the first day to match Litecoin’s 350k coins. As you can see, given the circumstances, Feathercoin was actually UNDERMINED

It was hard but i think i wasnt disrespectfull ;)
OR as the saying goes, i didnt pull a coblee… -

Probably will get me banned and win me no favors here but based on Coblee’s original comments and then his feigned attempt to offer “constuctive” criticism he can eat a bowl of d*cks in my opinion.
Nevertheless I was professional in my reply on the bitcointalk forum.
