I’ll buy one just for the lulz.
Awesome! First order in.
Anyone have any requests for other snacks they’d like to buy? I went around the store today and the selection is huge. I’ll wait until the market is up to do a bigger listing. But one of the things I thought would be cool is a goodie box with all sorts of things to try out.
One other thing we have in Canada which I haven’t seen in Europe, Dentyne Ice chewing gum. It lasts much longer and the flavours are awesome.
I’m tellin you, put me down for $30 USD worth. I’ll have it on Oct. 14th for ya. Happy to pay in FTC.

I want to buy Senators with FTC.
Okay I jest. If FTC was close to dollar value I’d probably spend it on consumer hardware of all types. Computers, home entertainment etc. Just seems to be the geek kind of thing I’d go for from a geek sort of token I’m mining. :)

Which is a good price of FTC ?
At what price you expect, 0.001$/FTC ? -
It depends on what time table you are working to. The devs are taking a long term view, the most important thing is that people find Feathercoins valuable against a range of commodities. The only reason people think they want petro dollars is because it is forced upon them either by US Law or by economic forces. They then tell themselves a lie about how they really want the petro dollar when really what they want is what it can buy them.
The dollar is just one ‘commodity’ we can compare the price of Feathercoin to, but over the next few months, with products like Local Feathercoin we aim to get Feathercoins in to more hands and used to trade more things like services, products etc.
At the moment most people buy cryptos as a way of generating more government backed currency which I think is perverse. It’s the exactly opposite of why we are here in the first place. But we are on a mission to change that.

I’d like to be able to buy MREs and other freeze dried meal packs like Mountain House meals, or even tinned goods like those found here: http://shop.conserva.de/en/.
That would be really cool, but I guess the shipping would hurt like hell. -

Rather than talk about things to buy and sell with FTC, how about we get serious and talk about how FTC can get a payment processor similar to Bitpay? That way all goods can be bought and sold.I see no future for any crypto coin that doesn’t have a payment processor, and I am not talking about some crypto only thing, I mean like Bitpay where the merchant can accept FTC for their product or service and be paid into a bank account in their local currency. This is what FTC need to be taken seriously and leap ahead of other coins. Everything else is a sideshow.
Hey erk. You’re right it is very important for Merchants that they are able to convert Feathercoin in to their government backed scam coin as a prerequisite to adoption as they are not able to pay their suppliers in Feathercoins.
You will have noticed I am sure that we are working on this. I also addressed a similar question back in late Sept.
Apparently in order to get a product like Bitpay to market you are going to need a shit load of fiat! Essentially you are market making, matching together short term positions (merchants) with long term positions (investors). This can be achieved and is working in other markets. The problem is persuading ‘investors’ to take the other side of the trade. @Fendlestick has also given us some insight on what Merchants want.
So it seems we have a first mover problem. We won’t get long term investors until we can signal to the market that a significant number of people place value on feathercoins (against a range of commodies not just fiat) such that they would be willing to go long. Merchants won’t adopt Feathercoin without someone to take the other side of the trade. We cannot provide the fiat in significant enough quantities because we are not liquid enough and would not be able to cover slippage.
So I see it as a multifaceted problem with multiple challenges all of which need to be tackled in parallel. And I would be really grateful to hear any thoughts and ideas from you on how we can achieve this if you have any information.
Everyone is working on their own timetable of success and with the price of FTC and LTC going down right now those taking a long term view may clash with those interested in the short term. I am sure we are going to get more points like yours being raised and I am happy to address each one personally.

Getting merchants on board is a good thing, but a drop in the ocean compared to a viable payment processor which would attract merchants in droves.
Why does this guy not have more rep? +1!
ChrisJ and I have, in prior phone conversations, gone over the steps required for mass adoption, and this I believe was step #3. It sparked a discussion of the Payment Protocol (BIP 0070) and what’s required to make that a reality. It’s going to be the subject of a post in the Technical Development board in the near future.
