Something odd is going on right now, most pools are down and my deposit to btc-e hasn’t been credited at 16 confirms. I am dedicating hashrate right now to help counteract the attack that is likely happening right now I hope others do as well.
The 16 confirms isn’t unusual… last week, I had more than that until they eventually confirmed it.
Last time I transferred FTC there it took over 40 confirms lol

Oh ok good to know, thanks. Although it seems as though something is up given that most ftc pools seem to be down.

The pools are something I don’t know about… I’m shooting our Miner leads and Bushstar a message. The additional confirmations from BTC-e are to protect possible attacks.

I think summat could be up.

I have found no blocks all day and now the block that I did mine has died too. Started mining back on Serraz pool and lost a block there too. Been over 2 hours since finding a successful block.

On the other hand… Could be crappy luck. :-\

Coinotron has posted a news update stating that ftc is under attack too.

The network hash rate has gone from 600Mhash to 1Ghash in the last few mins.

Someone wants to move a lot of feathercoin, probably via an exchange.

Correctly if I’m wrong, but in response to the last attack, the following occurred:

                      50 confirms on BTC-E
                      100 on cryptonit.

I plan to meet with Bush and pool-owners to figure out what we can do to help mitigate these DDOS attacks. As Feathercoin starts climbing, I expect to see more attempts on the coin.

yeap, but looking at the blockchain no large amounts are being moved, maybe its someone we pissed off, showing off with their 1/2Ghash power trip.

How hard is it for an ltc pool (or any other scrypt pool) to swing their hashes to ftc for a short while?

I just spoke to Bushstar (who spoke to Coinotron earlier). It’s hard to pinpoint where it’s coming from. I’m thankful for the bump in confirmations from the last attack.

Since we’re calculated over the full 504 blocks, as long as this is temporary, we shouldn’t see *much* on an effect right?

I am a noob when it comes to the mining and diff changes (straight up buyer) and have always wondered how the hash effects the difficulty, is there a specific hashrate that would be an up or down point for the next retarget?
