Thoughts:

I think it’s still too complicated for the average Joe. The ATM looks not too stable. I don’t think it’s very tamper-proof.

In general: Wrong direction. Why would I wanna have paper money in the (near) future? The way to go should be to create/improve mobile apps, electronic payment options, shopping charts, etc.

I see another glitch with the marketplace. My completed auction (#330) seems to have disappeared entirely from the site, meaning I an unable right now to leave positive feedback for the buyer. Is there anyway it can be restored so I can leave feedback?

asymmetric can be good in linear change, but with longer sampling average it’s used with an amplifier. So they put too much in the same basket.

the 90 block amplify the drop and they get >10 times 20% decrease in a row, then a lot of 1% to go back to high diff where it begin to pass over the 30seconds between block so they let the time between block becomes a bit long for some times(probably with some hash power remove from the network to help as it pass from ~30 sec to around 1 minutes at similar diff. of 14K). so longer time between block begins to accumulate in the 90 block until it get out the fast block found during the ramp up at 1% that where every 10-20 seconds. so short time between block that are 90 old are replace by 1 minutes blocks so several blocks with longer time between block enter the 90 blocks sample and 20% begins to be applied every 4 block until the average 30 seconds is pass over to get new block at 10-20 seconds to compensate for older one. but many -20% are done until they balance the 90 blocks (ex: 30 X 1 minute + 60 X15 sec. = 45 minutes = 30 sec average) to 30 sec average. so they go to 14000 diff back to 1000 and then ramp up 1% at a time back to 14K over a pretty long time with full hash power to maximize block.

the 90 block sampling are a FIFO(first in first out) so older time get out to make place for new blocks, but blocks are used ~22 times in the calculation.

note: this is possibly also amplified by someone playing with block 10 minutes in the future that get 10-20% of the blocks.

I think it’s a combo of the US and German government responses to cryptocoins.

For ‘packaged’ Linux versions of thre wallet the autoupdate is part of the packaging. As soon as a new version is packaged, the autoupdate features in Linux will anounce the new version, which can be installed with one click.

No idea if windows has a similar function

Excited to see the Advanced Checkpointing System rolling out!

I think we should try to advertise the ACS as more of a beefed up security measure rather than a security “band-aid”. By reading the above, I kind of get the impression that Cryptos are un-safe and highly susceptible to being “attacked”. This is kind of a turn-off to any new user considering the change from fiat to crypto-currency. Personally, I would rather not hear the word “attack” in anything closely related to my money.

So maybe instead of talking about 51% attacks, we can focus more on how we are striving to be the most secure crypto-currency. Bitcoin and Litecoin are secure… With ACP, Feathercoin is the MOST secure etc…

I think we are going to start seeing a lot more non-tech savvy people making the crossover into cryptos and a lot of this technology jargon is pretty hard to digest for the average “noob” entering the crypto world.

Further to this you know if a block is orphaned straight away after the first confirm. It shows up on the bool as validity 0. Hope this helps

That’s unfortunately not true. Any number of blocks can always be orphaned by a longer chain, unconfirming what would appear to have a good number of confirmations. I always sight the example of the alt coin that didn’t change it genesis block, and had it’s entire chain to date overwritten with the longer, original coins chain, unconfirming every single transaction that had ever been made.

This is the basis for the 51% attack: Any time someone has more than 51% of the hashing power, they can generate a longer chain faster than the rest of the network, and play their own longer chain, orphaning the old one and unconfirming all it’s confirmations. That’s why more pools == better, because it divides up the hashing power among the network.

Actually what you are talking about is completly different to what i was saying. i said if a block is orphaned straight away as in found to be a orphan instantly it will show up as 0 validity on the pool site.

But yes what you are saying is 100% correct as we have already seen multiple times on FTC and other alts
