I never quite understood physical coins… are they a one time use deal, or do you reload them? How does it work exactly?

Oh boy. More anchors to fiat. This stuff is poison. I like gold and all, but it chains us to the sentiments of people who do not build. We should have a a hard market, but it should be pegged to a market of basic supplies and resources like batteries.
This is the same thing as the credit card issue. Let’s not bind feathercoin to crutches and stilted solutions which require us to stop evolving.

Paper wallets are a good idea because they’re basically disposable and not much value is lost when you spend the bitcoins, but the minute you put MORE value into the physical equivalent you’re just spending money without making any. It’s a losing game. These are nothing more than collector items, and are only interesting to HARDCORE crypto-currency users, not people who are not interested.

[/quote]The function they once served has value. Bitcoin replaced and extended the function to not only being difficulty to fake, but public work being valued. Hence, batteries since they perform work for us. Gold just has to be pure and look good.

What I like about it, only bitcoin has done it,
and if feathercoin did it,
it adds a physical presence that most people can recognize, of course its expensive but its damn good marketing and promotion.Another take on this physical coin idea might be feathercoin banknotes, more or less a paper wallet note but with all the feathercoin branding, I not aware of bitcoin having done anything like this. It would be 8) cool 8) if someone from the art team did up some coins and notes, even to use them in marketing and promotion.

A few years ago I had a friend that would travel to music festivals and obscure concerts all over North America and he told be that on more than a few occasions people were giving away physical bitcoins (obviously near the beginning) but if the word spreads and you go home after a weekend, scratch your head about what this coin really is and you begin researching and it peaks your interest, then a job well done. This happened to him and then he told me about it… And the word travels from there. Even if its only a trinket of sorts… If it is kept by an individual, it’s likely to be discussed with friends and family who only know fiat currency. To start a conversation about crypto with an older or less adventurous/inquisitive generation is like asking an 80 year old to drive faster… It’s not going to happen.
