        Is the attack over now?

        give-me-ftc showed strange hashrates.

Although they have almost 50% of the network at the moment, their last found block is 10 blocks away.

Who’s finding all those blocks? Another fork/attack?

Thats the wrong thng to do, the only way to fight an attack is to mine.
Turning off your rig is helping the attackers.
If your having trouble with pools, solo mine, see here to setup solo mining as a backup

Let me be clear, we cannot rollback 100 blocks. Doing so would not teach the attackers a lesson. They only want to do damage and us rolling back that much would do more damage than they ever

So Bush, what’s the solution to this ?

The solution is, as it always has been - mine, mine, mine some more, get some friends to mine, etc.

We need more legit miners to bring the hash rate up so as to make the required hash power to pull off such an attack so prohibitive that it would not be feasible or economical.

At present mine, mine and more mining, and let bushstar and others work on the problem. 8)

Consequences of rolling 100 blocks back are dire. There are too many valid transactions. BTC-e may be into a huge loss. I woudn’t be surprised if they delist FTC after that.

                          Rollback is a bandaid.

The solution is a protocol change.

Also, how do we know there’s not some people adding mining power against this guy? Their effort to help will account for nothing.

I have an idea, but we need a chatroom.

I am still mining, but I would like to know, It is normal for my hash rate to drop on my boxes? I’m using the same settings as I have been. Is this something to do with the pools? Or is it my setup? Thanks!

BTC-e isn’t going to lose anything, only the morons who were trading while everyone was telling them there was a 51% attack.

Pools seem to be up right now and we we have not had any blocks orphaned for a while. With our increased profitability we will see a lot of miners coming over which is a short term solution. We are recovering from a very high difficulty, now that this is going down we will get more miners jumping back on. More hash power makes us more difficult to attack.

Long term we are looking at technical solutions that would make attacks like this much more costly to undertake. The biggest defence we have is to grow the coin. We are constantly working to get more people mining, trading and using Feathercoin.

Man this is great! So, we paid some miners to boost up the hashrate for a day and send us to the top of Coinwarz so we get even more miners now … money well spent.

2 miners just brought more than 15 MH/s apiece onto wemineFTC.
Glad to see some big guns joining the fray.

Interesting way to look at it.

I hope Bush and co find a way to lock that wallet.
