Need help finding AMD7970 cards with reference PCB
-
i dont get it. after looking at the pcb layout of the nonreference cards it actually
looks like the non reference design used by the brand are actuall alike.
example both sapphire/xfx/gigabyte will no longer fit reference watercooling due to placement of components. but they all seem to have placed em in same area. meaning that a custom waterblock will fit em all…hopeless. maybe i need to get 2x7990 instead. lower hash for more
money >:( damnit…on a happy note i sold my xfx cards ;D

I am pretty sure the MSI TF3 7970s that came out 2 ish months ago use a semi reference pcb. You can in fact fit stock 7970 water coolers on them and they are for the most part the same as a reference 7970. This is what I have heard and read about these cards. I had problems getting mine into the 700 KH/s range for a while but they are happily running at 740KH/s 24/7 now and I am sure they could go above 750 and they are on air.

Here is a list of reference 7970 cards with pics. I used cooling configurator and chose a generic EK reference full coverage waterblock and so anything on this list should be a reference card. I dont think the list is exhaustive though.http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/waterblock/3831109856697
the only problem i have had is that with sapphire, xfx, gigabyte is that for it to have reference design it needs to be revision x.x.x… and this info you dont get from the place you purchase the card. also on some of the cards you need to remove the excisting fan solution to find which revision you got. That really sucks! ::)
what are your cgminer settings for getting 740?
It´s anoying since i really like gigabyte 7970 oc, they are extremely easy to get 750khash out of, without overheating if air is circulated around em
But when i put them (dual gpu) in a fractal design R3 XL (tried earlier) the computer screen went blank after 5minuts of mining due to heat.
Would love to have them with watercooling=)
With water cooling i can even go quad gpu on my main rig=) -
I posted them in another thread. I don’t remember exactly what they are but when I get back from work ill let you know.
To damn much! :P
500 usd for watercooling components, 2xgpu/cpu/dual 140mm radiator/bay reservoir incl pump (ek dcp2.2 combo)
Then aditional 1100usd for the cards. -
Damn - you’ve got more money than sense. ;)
