There should have been a warning regarding keeping it constructive.
To soo fast lock such an important thread/discussion is…I sent you a pm wesphily, but since you will be off tonight can some other mod please unlock the thread.

You were personally attacked. I wanted to protect you from more attacks as well as prevent others from being attacked.
Stawp it. You know I don’t need protection from another user commenting (or from anything, I’m a big boy or girl). :P

If you are sure that the personal attacks will stop then I will unlock it.
I can’t guarantee the actions of others, I’m simply stating I didn’t mind and I took no offense. I guess I rattled his feathers in the other thread expressing my butthurt and I can understand that happening coming from an emotional/passionate response.

Side note: A good conversation to me is one where a question/concern is brought up, a solution is discussed, and an agreement is reached. The post I locked was nowhere near that.
I like the ones where everyone releases their inner demons and we all know where each other really stand. ;)

Bah. All the good discussions get locked.I don’t get it, so I’ll (try) to stop posting my opinions in an effort to keep threads from being locked.
However, I am disappoint. :(
BTW, I didn’t take what that guy said personally. He disagrees w/me and that’s fine. I actually prefer to be disagreed with, hence my dismay to find the thread locked so we could reach some sort of understanding on where we all stand. No common ground will ever be found for us to walk upon if our concerns/ideas are not allowed to blossom in open dialogue.
I feel a little stifled now because I’m afraid a thread will get locked if I disagree with someone and things get a little heated (even though the discussion I’m talking about was rather tame). And FWIW, a user here I felt was contributing some useful discussions/information hasn’t been back since his thread was locked. I PM’d him and he expressed his feelings about how he felt he was being censored. I’m beginning to see his point.
Anywho … FTC to da [THREAD LOCKED].
I kind of stopped reading and posting because of this… :-X
Though Tuck I’ll disagree with you whenever you want. :P
If you are feeling censored then I would like for you to tell me what got censored. The ONLY thing that should be getting censored is peronal attacks. Anything else is free game although I’d prefer productive posts.
Does questioning things to get more information so everyone is informed properly and not a select few get considered productive?
MY experience wasn’t in that thread. Mine was asking for the last two months on how we as a community were going to protect the miners and pools while consistently getting ignored or those threads moved around. So I stopped posting then when the attacks came back my fears came full forward for ftc. I’m a little upset about that. One at the naive treatment of what happened and two that I feel I should have shouted louder making it a bigger deal. I was trying to be pleasant, respectful, and be part of the community. aka not rock the boat too much.

This is my stance on the community moderation and not targeted at anyone…
There really should only be designated forum moderators moderating any forum post. Any attacks should be labeled as such and used as a warning. Instant locking gets interpreted as censorship. Only designated moderators should ever edit someone elses post or lock a thread. That leads to a bad place and can be used against the community. -
Thank you for this feedback Jeremiel. I’d like to assure you and anyone else that I am working on a better framework for the managing of the forums, one which will be published to all users and full accountability of all Mods, including myself. Could I ask you to elaborate on the above in a PM so as not to derail the thread? Specifically I’d appreciate your comments on whether you agree with idea of Global Mods or whether you had something else in mind?
Thanks in advance.

Going forward, there will be an OFFICIAL warning before a thread is locked.
Always ask questions. It would be really difficult to provide answers without questions ;)

That event sent my butthurt into motion and the wounds are just now beginning to heal.
On another note … damn. Posting that link made me realize I was hitting Justabit with a lot of bad mood info in a matter of days … and then he left/took a break/smoked a J/drank himself into a stooper/whatever he’s doing.
I feel responsible for bugging him about my petty(?) concerns now. I should have just stfu and dealt w/it on my own instead of bringing all that down on him. My bad. :(
I don’t know what justabit’s doing but I hope he’s resting. however, asking tough questions always has to be done. If you lead, people will pose questions to you. It’s especially hard that his is money related. Gotta take the hits. I read what you wrote and it seemed to me like you were asking “why are we still affected by this.” In response he admitted we are new at this… which ftc is new. It’s those questions that make people aware that stuff “has” to or “needs” to change. It’s how we learn…

Threads get locked because people turn discussions into personal attacks. In anycase if two posters need to duke it out there is always the PM avenue.
I love to see discussions between people with different viewpoints going on. Its dull if everybody agrees or just toe the party line, and you usually get to learn quite a lot more when people have opposing views.
A thread locked does not necessarily mean that the discussion is being frowned upon. Posters are free to start another thread and have fresh start.
After all we are all here to see the success of Feathercoin. So getting angry at each other leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
