What'll it take to get your FTC on Crypto Street?
-
Whilst I’m Down Under and the USD trade has no appeal to me, I’m interested in doing BTC/FTC trades. I’ll try out Crypto Street for my next trade.
In answer to your question about how to get more miners/traders interested, I guess one factor would be to add more coins. BTC-e and Cryptsy support a wide range which captures the interest of miners who are swapping the rigs between different coins. (And I appreciate you’re just getting started and may add more in future, but I thought I’d answer your question as I see it.)
Thanks for supporting FTC. Good luck. :)
We are looking to add more coins; however, we believe that having ALL the coins like Cryptsy is a bit too much and that BTC-e lacks support for crypto/crypto trades. We hope to find a happy medium between the two by having both a good selection that filters out some of the smaller coins and offering all the pairs for the coins we support. We have recently been published in CoinDesk saying we will soon offer Primecoin and Namecoin so that’s our plan for coins in the near future.
Thank you for your feedback =) Let me know what other coins you would like to see and how your first trade went!

Wrong. They totally got BTC/USD/LTC/FTC/NMC/NVC/TRC pairs.
We hope to find a happy medium between the two by having both a good selection that filters out some of the smaller coins
How do you determine what constitutes a ‘smaller coin’? Market cap? As a market maker, this seems like you’ll always be playing catch up to the other exchanges with this thinking. Transaction volume? Hashrate? Amount of premine/instamine? Bounty size? What exactly do you mean by ‘smaller coins’?
and offering all the pairs for the coins we support.
A good trick… one that will lead to more confusion as you add more pairs, since each currency added will increase the number of order books exponentially. Do people really want to trade the NMC for FTC without going through BTC first? Won’t they have to anyway if there’s no orders for NMC/FTC, but there are for BTC/NMC and BTC/FTC? How should I decide which market to sell my coins on, since I can only have them on one order book pair at a time?
From the above linked article:
“People like and trust an American-based platform and that’s presently what we offer for an altcoin exchangeâ€, said Shamoon Siddiqui, the company’s founder and CEO.
Where is the market data that supports this assertion? Plenty of American based exchanges have been shut down, destroying consumer trust in American currency regulations. Why is the fact that it’s American based preferred over a wide range of feature, usability, speed, reliability, and choice? Because personally I’d RATHER have my exchange in a neutral country free from regulatory inhibition, and not forced to pass on the high cost of complying with that regulation on to their customers. Oh, right… you already ran afoul of this very problem which is why you presently don’t support USD despite all the initial claims that you would.
Again, from the article:
“We want to encourage a strong economy between the various altcoins,†said Siddiqui, “and that’s why we’re starting with a no-fee model. But of course, that will change in time.â€
First one’s always free. That’s how you get them hooked, then once their money is in, BAM! 2% withdraw fee. Brilliant.
Thank you for your feedback =) Let me know what other coins you would like to see and how your first trade went!
All of them, regardless of how small you might consider them. Let the free market decide which ones are important and should be traded. Let them vote with their coins and with their hash power. Meanwhile you can sit back and collect commissions on ALL of them. It’s all profit to you, why would you not list a coin if people want to trade it?
-
^ You sir are such a pessimist.
Good job on the site :)

Maybe the same reason my martini lounge doesn’t sell cheap liquor.

Too much for what? Too much for traders who want to trade their coins? Too much for your user interface design?
Too much for the UI design. The interface needed to show all the coins tends to be cluttered.
Our vision for Crypto Street is to attract traders to the cryptocurrency market at large and help them diversify their cryptocurrency portfolio to maximize gains with minimal risk. We choose coins based on our contact with their developers, market cap, and innovative changes to the Bitcoin protocol’s design. In addition, we look for strong community backing and take hashing power into account. We do not want to support coins whose developers will stop updating or coins that will quickly be worthless. If we are always ‘playing catch up’ so be it. But once a coin comes onto our platform it will be one that we have vetted based on the aforementioned criteria.
Wrong. They totally got BTC/USD/LTC/FTC/NMC/NVC/TRC pairs.
But BTC-e does not offer conversion between the coins themselves. Yes, there will be exponential growth every time we add a coin; however, much like the fiat market, cryptocurrency has room for majors and minors. We are hoping to find those ‘majors’ by getting community feedback and by looking at things such as market cap, community support, and hash power.

I support this 100%. I visited your site today, looking good. And based in the US? Even better. I think you’re one of the first and it’s a good move. It’ll attract more investment.
This is our support for US trust. Many of our users have expressed the same enthusiasm for dealing with a US exchange. There is a certain level of trust associated with knowing and understanding the jurisdiction in which the business handling your money resides.

Maybe the same reason my martini lounge doesn’t sell cheap liquor.
Our mindset is very much in line with this martini lounge’s. I respect the desire to trade all coins and for that you can go to a handful of other exchanges. We hope to differentiate ourselves by distinguishing and offering the ‘majors’. It may be risky but we believe this plan will pay off in the long run.
Sorry, I was confusing you with coins-e. I wrote the XChange plugin for them a month ago, which is what I was referring to. FF a month later, and I’ve already forgotten which ones I’ve done and haven’t done. Minus was very helpful with the coins-e API. I’m still waiting on yours, I’m still working on Kraken’s. I’d be happy to volunteer my services for your exchange as well when you do publish yours and open source the XChange plugin at no cost, but I’m not looking for employment at this time, thank you.
Allow me to answer your original question: What will it take to get MY FTC on your exchange? 3 things: #1 an API. #2 volume. #3 arbitrage opportunities in the price as compared to the other sites I arbitrage on: BTC-e, Cryptsy, Coins-e, CampBX, Bitstamp, MtGox, Vircurex, and soon Kraken. #1 is on you. #2 and particularly #3 are a bit more out of your hands, but I can tell you that if all three are true I’d be falling over myself to get you into my bot, and get some BTC and FTC up there just as fast as my fingers would allow me.
-
Ok, so what are you offering that would make me switch from btc-e and cryptsy? What’s the difference or is it just another exchange?
-
Points off for not naming your topic “Can you tell me how to get -how to get FTC to Crypto Street?” :p
Awesome! The API is on the way. It is one of our most requested features. I believe that volume will come with the API because a lot of people have bots that are ready to go once the API is released. As far as arbitrage goes, it is born out of latency between the various exchanges. If you look hard enough it should always be there. I will let you know once the API is released =)
At the moment, we have no fees to trade and withdraw! In addition, we offer a clean UI and real customer support.
At first, we will be just like the other exchanges. However, when we implement fees, we are creating a maker/taker model. In addition, our platform will evolve to provide you with forex level analysis tools and features such as margin trading and futures. All of that will inevitably take some time because of regulation and because we just launched a week ago.

Awesome looking site Crypto street.
Will definitly check it out for my next trading.
Like that you set ftc alongside BTC and LTC which i feel surely is the place to start if your going to select a narrow range of coins.
(whiiiiiiich is nothing wrong with, just look at mtgox. they only have one and doing great!)Will you guys develop own mobile app for the exchange? i think that would be a nice feature and something that i would really appreciate.
Also separate other exchanges and adds a more flexible usage of the exchange.Kevlar are you ever satisfied?, i feel you are angry at every new feature/new company that wants to invest time/money into feathercoin.
At least sugarcoat some of it so feathercoin comunity doesnt look that hostile.
That is something we’re looking into. At the moment our website is mobile accessible but we can definitely make the experience smoother with an app. Once we reach a volume that justifies expanding into mobile we will have an app for you.

Will you enable 2 factor Auth using SMS which will work in internationally? Or Yubikey or some other 2 factor auth?
SMS 2 factor which works in the UK is one of the reasons I use Cryptsy currently…

Sounds cool to me. The main problem I have with exchanges is that living in the UK, it’s very hard for me to turn GBP into BTC or FTC without being slammed with fees. Will you be proving a GBP deposit service?
Once we are able to open up to fiat currency, we will be accepting USD and then EUR and GBP shortly after. We do plan on having a deposit method for GBP but are still working out the logistics. Once our licenses are acquired I will be able to give you some more concrete information.

3. FTC
We had hoped that the Feathercoin Community would be more welcoming, but sadly, we haven’t had much interest in Feathercoin. As a result, we’re sunsetting the currency. We may add it in the future, but for now, it’s on it’s way out. By the end of November, we will remove the pairs that have FTC.
Let’s drop an alt-currency before we even incorporate fiat!
