\[Solved\] no shares!? \* Set up mining, what the block explorer means
-
Well after running at 30KHash/s I was waiting for a block or something to finish maybe I thought?
I’ve gotten no shares. Then even though AVG reported CPUMiner as a visrus I ran it anyway. Eventually it had one accepted and instantly I saw a share show up!
Well actually then I was pissed. I’ve been running RPCMiner-cuda for a couple days with this kind of log…
Later other attempts resulted in this kind of feedback…
from the cudaminer I put or found in GUIMiner which never connects on it’s own actually either…
[2013-12-02 03:09:06] GPU #0: GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+, 1048576 hashes, 219.81 khash/s
[2013-12-02 03:09:11] GPU #0: GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ result does not validate on CPU!
So anyway got the latest driver for that card but still same disappointing problem.
It seems the card is generated results that are wrong?!
I’ve tried so many Miners and settings it would takes days to say nothing works. How can I mine with a GeForce 9800 GTX+ FeatherCoins via NVIDIA CUDA or any GPU route successfully?
Hell I thought the nounce lines meant I found something. Nothing is really explained in what results to look for for validation, nor what results mean your wasting your time.
Each miner has a different way of saying it and nothing works well at all at least for feathercoins through feathercoin.is-a-geek.com
They have a nice web interface to show what’s happening but also nothing to say oh by the way your results are all invalid. Also same problem with CGMiner 3.1.0 from inside GUIMiner latest 3.84 fails to find GPU at all.

The most I got out of a 9500 is 40 KHash/s, it has probably been removed from later versions because it is uneconomic. You may still make something. I did get my nVidea card working with cgminer 3.1.1. Your settings looks nearly there.
You may have missed the --scrypt switch in the bat file.
If you find yourself getting p*ssed too often, mining is probably not for you.
-
Okay, thanks.
It seems you and further research are saying the --scrypt flag is for litecoin only, but maybe that’s similar to feathercoins.
With that flag set I’m seeing 2K without it, it does 30K so that’s extremely disappointing.
At my time of writing this it is of course not generated anything at all (while running at only 2K). I suppose eventually I’ll see an accepted share from that but ya it’ll be a real waste of time on this 9800, so I’ll get to prove it works and then shut it down.
If I got a super GPU card I should expect less then a tenth of the typical mining rates? so 400K would get 40K? I’m supposing? Still no way to confirm that now. It looks like that “scrypt” flag will do that to me. That would have been devastating to discover after getting a super vnidia GPU card like the GeForce 780 GTX Ti. It’s reported at 400Khash/s but that isn’t this scrypt alogrythm for feathercoins/litecoins I’m still left guessing. Can you confirm that? feathercoin and litecoin with “scrypt” flag needed are 10 times slower then BitCoins to compute?!
Yes, unfortunately it seems to be corroborated in this link http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=486.0
also here

It says it keeps ASIC out of the game… for now and worth it, but the rate is too low.
I’m in debug mode since it says nothing useful so far. in ten minutes I’ve noted what amounts to stalls and nothing more. Maybe I’ll add more here about this later if it’s still not able to generate a single share.
currently it rolls because of a block mismatch. A:0 R:0 HW:0 cgminer 3.1.0 found in GUIMiner -
if you got it running finally, switch from cgminer to cudaminer, if you have an nvidia card.
I assume you have installed the cuda toolset and drivers from nvidia, too ? ;)cgminer simply isn’t optimized to work with nvidia cards.
cudaminer gives 5-10 times better hashrates., depending on your card.
-
Your assumption that --scrypt hashrates are approx 1/10th of SHA256 hashrates is about right. Scrypt uses more memory and will run more slowly on all GPU’s than SHA256 hashing.

Okay so thanks to the community for all help and thoughts.
It seems to me that something did change on the server side of life because what didn’t work before is working now for now and hopefully into the future.
The various different things are all working now. Currently I’m using this…
Miners\CudaMiner\cudaminer-2013-11-20\x64\cudaminer.exe -o http://feathercoin.is-a-geek.com:8341/ -O User.worker:password -d 0 -i 1 -l auto -C 0 -m 1
and getting an average of 40khash/s (all other factors at this time are relative of course).

for those like I used to be wanting to know what they should see it shows the word “Accepted”, when working properly.
Exchanging hashes doesn’t mean it’s working. In my case before it looked for a few days as though it was working and I waited forever and got no rewards. on the feathercoin.is-a-geek.com site you can see almost instantly the shares value go up for each time it says accepted in the miners log.

That’s goo news :)
Good luck with mining!
If your problem is solved, can you add a [SOLVED] at the beginning of the thread title?
