Gridchip GC3355 Mining machine for FTC
-
Isn’t this essentially an ASIC? For Scrypt?
If this guy can do it, im sure we’ll soon see faster / cheaper ones on the market…
-
Not a fan of asic/fpga :/
I hope it draws enough power so it won’t be worth it’s price… -
No it’s an FPGA for scrypt. From this you could tape out an ASIC.

Yesterday ,Gridchip GC3355 release in beijing China. It is scrypt Mining machine with cpuminer. One chip is 84KH/s. :D
Thanks for sharing the information with us, lizhi. Are any of you worried?
Not really,
allready earned in my latest investment. And i do not think this will change anything over night.
Still plenty of time to keep on mining=)When the time comes i will still have easy sellable hardware. ;)
Only if I can run it off of solar panels and a battery array.
Otherwise, no.

can’t find anything on ebay yet at least.
Does the chinese wanna keep this for them self? -
Wouldn’t you?Boss just told me to ask for his card when there’s a place where we can get them.
Apparently we’re going to build a farm.
Haha lovely.
One of the large norwegian web shops got in 100+ units of Sapphire OC dual 280X cards for 235GBP each.
Gotta say its tempting to build me some more. just need to find someone with space and electricity to me :) -
I’ve grown accustomed to this timing, actually. I just got my first R9 280x about 10 minutes ago. Also, I will likely be getting a PS3 for Christmas. This is par for the course ;D
From what I understand, tapeout of the chips just begun in November. I guess it will take a while until the boards will be up for sale.
I’m curious about the wattage per board. Probably between 15-25W?
Bird in the hand, though. You’ll be mining and heading towards ROI and taking advantage of low difficulties long before anyone gets these in hand.

Probably you are all aware, but some more info (and excitement) here!

Anyone planning to get some boards or/and chips?! I am in!

Of course, I agree fully. I’ve already hit my ROI on my rig I’ll be putting together today, as I’ve bartered services locally for every part. I’m excited to see how this effects the short term market as soon as the news starts rippling out. I don’t gamble, unless there are charts that display figures in real time ;)
Yep, I am.
I’m worried these things will never hit the market, so the arms race for scrypt coins can begin, causing people to invest in farms, driving the value and therefore the price up.
Just look at what ASIC’s did for Bitcoin: You’ve got people investing HUGE amounts of money in their mining hardware. That has a huge impact on the valuation that people demand for their coins. When people start mining scrypt coins in earnest, the same thing will happen to scrypt coins.
Frankly, they just can’t come soon enough.
-
They wont be cost effective for some time. Time to hit the gas on my GPUs!

Acutally, at a price of 65.5$ per chip, we don’t have anything to worry about right now, I think. Unless, as has been mentioned, they use hardly any power in which case they could be a good longterm investment for companies and put us GPU miners out of business. But yes, it seems we still have some time left for mining :)
