Undervolting R9 280x VapoR X
-
Hi can any 1 confirm that “Sapphire Radeon R9 280X ,3GB GDDR5, PCI-Express 3.0, “VAPOR-X OC”” is not voltage locked? As in my understanding it is not. But, however When I trying to use Msi afterburner I have no luck in getting it lower than 1200 … I enter for example 1112 in to the Core volatage field, pressing aplly and then can hear that Gpu’s fans switching off and on imediatly. But the voltage monitor still showing 1200 on all gpu’s :(
Sapphire Trixx semms to lower voltage ( or at least Mh/s ) but it was not visible on Hardware monitor as it was showing 1.250, and another proble I was not able to make it save all 3 gpu’s settings. As after reboot it was loading only 1 gpu’s custom settings and another 2 was loading on default settings. Was trying to google it, marked all windows in settings as adviced per other user’s but was no help :(
edit: Overclock button on Gpu’s is off.
Here’s my conf. file, in case I have to change something there .

Try using Sapphire Trixx, little known fact that Sapphire locks their voltages unless the proper tool is used. My 7950s are voltage locked in any program other than Sapphire Trixx.

Can you tell me your settings, as I can’t find solution how to make Trixx to save and auto laod custom settings for all 3 gpu’s ? As its only loading 1 gpu settings, and the rest are loaded on default settings :(

There should be a check box on the last tab I think, you may need to scroll down, and it should be something like “sync gpus”…idk i would have to go home and look at it. I know there is a setting that can do it.

Ok. seems Trixx is working as my socket power meter drops down from 1k to 740W. No lets try with restart and saved settings :)
After restart all back to same as was before … 1st Gpu has custom settigns, other two are back to 1200 … Here a pic of my Trix Settings.

Check off “Force Constant Voltage”, your cards may be throttling on their own.

They arent checked m8 -
“Check Off” meaning put a check mark in that field. I know running both afterburner and trixx with multiple cards I needed that enabled to force the voltages to sync up. Don’t be surprised to see them not at the same voltage to start but ramp up to the same voltage.

My bad :D Bad after doing as you say, I’m still at same place … First GPU at custom settings, gpu2 and 3 at default settings when restarting pc :( I even delayed Trixx launch for 30 seconds. As in one forum some1 suggested that Catalyst has to load first before Trixx …

Had to around with screen, keyboard and mouse… Set it up manually, so now it’s lower temperature and not that loud. Have to find solution how to save all 3 (in next few day’s it will be 5) GPU’S custom settings upon restart. Thanks for advice of sticking with the Trixx
