More power!

My is at 860-920W (x3 R9 280x Vapor x) , depends on fan activity. Will post later full specs, as awaiting Riser’s to connect extra 2 cards.

Come on guys more detail need here or this thread like so many others is going to be totally useless!
I’m trying to stir up a bit more interest and provide education for the new miners out there, there are pages and pages of “I’ve got a xxxx and get yyyKh/s” with no explanation as to how! I was lucky this week when mine went pop, not only did I not damage anything but an under warranty PSU but most importantly I didn’t burn my house down and kill anyone!!!
It’s way to easy as a new miner to look at the pages of incomplete information and think “I’ll just bung a cuffing great big GPU in my PC and mine my way to a fortune!” I know people need to do the research and many don’t seam to, but more information leads to better education, and that can only lead to FTC having a better and stronger following thus benefiting all of us surely.
Nope, overvolted it actually (1.225v) because i can handle the heat anyway

@aatje92 cheers for updating your post with more detail :) would you mind running your rig without mining and telling me what your power at the wall is?

Sure, it stabilises around 140Watts but i recon this PSU isn’t the most sufficient one at low pull, got a seasonic on the way so will update ;). also edited post with wc parts that pull power

im still wondering how you do over 13 intensity on your 7970. anyone else achieving this? what kind of card? 1 thread or 2?

angloblaxon was that question aimed at me? if so take a look at my Tune, tune, and re-tune! thread to see the settings I’m running
I also have the numbers from messing around this morning with the testing, just trying to find the best way to present them, so they can be updated easily as hopefully more people provide detailed input.

Following on from my little accident this week I think it’s time to get a better understanding of how much power we actually use.So given the minor change of my setup to now be;
Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M LX3
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250
Memory: 4GB DDR 1333Mhz
GPU0: GV-R797TO-3GD
PSU: Corsair CX750M 750W
OS: BAMT on a USB
CGMiner Version: 3.1.0So the plan is to carry out the following set of tests and see what the power meter comes back with.
Strip down machine to on-board GPU only
Run for 15 Mins at 0% load, i.e just sitting there doing nothing
Put the 7970 back in and run for 15 mins at 0% load again just sitting there doing nothing
Mine for 15 mins at I=20
Mine for 15 mins at I=19So I’m hoping to get 4 figures from this that allow us to see what the rigs really pull, hopefully my R9-280X Toxics will be here tomorrow so I can run the same tests using 1 and maybe 2 of these in the rig to try and give a broader range of results for comparison.
I promise you no feather coins will be harmed during this experiment and I will try and present the results in a clear way so you can see what we are talking about. But (there’s always a but) I only have a very crappy £13 power meter so as to how accurate the answers are is anyone guess, but the level of inaccuracy will be the same for all tests.
from what I read around on this and other mining forums, toxic are possibly the worst card midels you could’ve went with.
they’re hot, hungry, and slow.

So just wanted to say, im tuning core voltage right now and difference between 1113mv and 1050mv is a whopping 100 Watts without hashrate drop so im now on 2 HD7970’s with 1,45mh/s hashrate and 560watts power usage
550 watts with 1.040v
