Holy cow. Sometimes i wish i didn’t have kids. Just out of curiosity how is the market in Istanbul for GPU’s? Which GPU’s do you find work the best (most stable/best temp/highest hash rate) I couldn’t tell if you were using PCI-E risers or not. Do you typically have 2 cards per board? What do you use to remote into them? a KVM?As a fellow geek - your setup makes me drool. I’m pretty satisfied with my 2800Kh/s for now, but your setup is dreamy.
I have a kid 4 1/2 year old boy didn’t stop me doing, plus 2 dogs and my wife of course, mining area off limits to the dogs and the little one thou a lot of circuits out in the open could turn easily into a fire hazard for them.
I don’t use PCI risers I usually put two cards per board with 800w power supply, I have one 4 x 7950 system which is a pain to control heat I should use risers need to work on that one. I have a switch system when I press a button and select a computer I have keyboard mouse and monitor available instantly
There is everything GPU wise in Istanbul here lot of big reseller such as Electroworld, Darty, MediaMart other local big computer hyper stores so prices vary a lot of weekend discounts where you can save %30 of retail prices, so I can get my hands on the GPU 's easily prices are around 300-350 usd for 7950’s 400-450 for 7970’s and 1050 usd for 7990’s my favourite ones are 7950s because they have great hash rate vs heat generated I can control their heat much easily with higher intensities the most reliable 7950s I think are XFX brand most I have are sapphire and some powercolor, 7970 not so much ideal they run hot but I have many of them powercolor sapphire equal amount of units roughly, hard to control the heat with them especially outside weather gets warmer, sapphire 7970 tend run a little cooler than powercolor 7970s at equal intensities. I also have some 7870s and 6970s but I don’t recommend them.

Huh… So that’s your rig I saw the other night… I subbed you by the way.
I bet that snow helps out with heat :D
Nice setup. Very, very, nice setup.
-
Decent sized rig :-)
Have you considered p2pool mining instead of centralized pool ?
-
Can I buy a cloudhashing contract from you? ::)
-
LOL you and me both :P

That is a nice rig. There is a puddle of drool on the floor by me now.

No cloud hashing contract yet I only sell limited amount of my mined FTC’s on Ebay to pay for the electricity bill.

Thats a seriously awesome rig! Wonder how much time you put into building a rig that size ?
-
It took me two weeks day and night, I would wake up early search all the computer hardware stores call them for availability get out in all day of terrible Istanbul traffic buy them come back install what I could find that day by night I would not sleep until what I have purchased that day got to mining this took about 2 weeks, I was truly exhausted for a while.
Glad you asked.

May I ask on which temperature your rig is operating (avg - maybe roomtemp)?
I’d love to know how you set it up to do that, because I’m planning on setting up several rigs in the near future, and I don’t feel like doing the monitor shuffle for rig maintenance…

You should plan for the summer when the tempertures will be a problem.
7950 XFX cards (which seem to be the cheapest) have a lot of problems, hope your lucky and got a good batch.
Awesome amount of hash ;D, and whats the kilowatt price for power in Istanbul?
quite easy, search google for a (manual) dvi switch :) should not be too expensive (around 10-50$ depends on how many you want to switch). HDMI-switches or better HDMI-matrix-switches are a “little” more expensive (100-1000+$)

This is a very interesting idea… may I ask how successful this is?
Would love to see this however I need permission to view it :( -
My wife she totally supports it, and understands the risks.
I haven’t had warmer summer weather yet but somedays it got around 20c I had to lower the intensities on some of my machines if I am going to run this in the summer I have to isolate the room and install a very big 45,000 BTU AC unit the least maybe two of them.
The rig itself pulls around 12 KW alone so I am within normal range the rest is UPS efficiency %88 my loss there is %12 so I actually end up pulling more there is 1.4 KW AC unit running 24/7 and all the fans consume about 700watts.
I actually got right down to the ampere at the three phase main power cables and monitor it with an clamp ampere meter, so 14-15 kw at 215-225 volts is just about right and normal. most machines run at 19-20 intensity that also adds to the load.
