R9 280 which manufacturer you prefere?
-
The only one I have not had yet out of the 4 is ASUS…I love my MSI cards and they work great with afterburner, sapphire and gigabyte I have had to use Trixx with and I don’t like that as much as afterburner. ASUS makes great products and I know they will deliver a quality product. None of these 4 manufactures are a poor choice and therefor I will refrain from voting.

I’ve got powercolor and to new with them to make any judgment yet. Asus makes good products and I like Gigabyte’s mobos. just don’t have any experience with those cards.

Asus is very good, msi is alright, gigabyte is alright, sapphire is good. You can’t go wrong with any.

I would use Sapphire or Asus. Both of them have great non-stock designs. I’ve went through some bad experience with my gigabyte HD 7870 through mining. The three mini fans are great for cooling. However, they generate so much noise @50% fanspeed and is very irritating!

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Sapphire and MSI.

I have Sapphires (290) and Gigabytes (280x).
These is a BIG difference regarding the noise of the fan.The Sapphire makes an hugh amount of noise because it has just one fan whereas the Gigabytes are really quit and have three fans.
I dont know if it is because one is 290 and the other is 280xBoth cards seem to be voltage locked and Sapphire engine is not really adjustable.
Gigabytes need to be under clocked to raise the hash speed. At this point I tend to say the gigabyte has somewhat more instability because each rig is exactly the same regarding mobo, cpu and memory but i had to restart the gigabyte rigs a couple of times and the sapphire just keep on running. Again this could be caused by the different cards 290 vs 280x

This is interesting, keep voting and add your comments. I appreciate it very much!

I picked up an xfx 290 for 425 shipped. It isn’t in yet, but there seems to be some good luck flashing them to 290xs. I know xfx is generally frowned upon, but I’m not past hardware modding :D
I currently have a Sapphire 6970 that I am pulling 490Kh with. And last night I killed a HIS 6850, I think. It still needs looked at more, but cgminer wont start with it anymore.
I like Sapphire cards, they usually run solid. I have bought a few HIS, they tend to run well for me, but only for a year or two then they tend to die. Use to work in a computer shop, and we sold an xfx once, it was DOA for user, couldn’t return to where we bought it from cause it was out of their policy, xfx rejected, saying it was damaged by the user because two surface mount capacitors were missing. Try fighting that one… We will see if this experience is any better.

Hmm…it seems it doesnt matter much as everything is sold out!
:) I will be lucky to get one (anyone) before christmas… -
The Sapphire R9 280x Dual X are very sensitive to heat and top out around 720 kh with 1.050 - 1.100 volt.
In Europe they are the cheapest.
I just got the Sapphire R9 280x Toxic with 3 fans on it and will see if I can get the reported 760+ kh on it but they are a little bit more pricey but if you shop around or get lucky like I did you can get them around the same price as the Dual X
