Attention All, IMPORTANT.
-
Following recent events on the fourm we felt it important to offer some guidance so we can all help protect ourselves:
If you wish to trade / invest with a forum member consider this:
The length of time they have been a member of the forum.
The type of interaction they have had with forum Admin, Staff and Team.
Do they have proof of their business working; if they have their own website address consider how long it has been running and whether their services have been used before.
Check to see if they have any type of reputation else where ie bitcointalk forum / litecoin forum / Twitter / Reddit, this is just a small example of where to look.
I ask you to be careful and always check before handing over any funds.

It’s great advice.
But it also occurs to me that at some point we do need to extend trust, and we need a way for people to establish a good reputation.
That’s why I’m offering to serve as escrow for anyone who wishes to purchase something from someone who doesn’t have 200+ rep and a long history. I’m happy to make a cold storage account and hold onto all the funds until such a time as delivery can be verified. This way transparency can be maintained in a trustless environment.

Can act as the middleman if someone needs it ;) -
This topic is too important to dilute, so it’s locked and stickied.
All comments have been split into a separate thread. -
I think the combined condition monitoring of an aware and up to date membership is the way forward.
In maintenance task selection monitoring is always the most cost effective maintenance technique and gives extra data to the problem that a technical solution does not,
i.e
Planed maintenance -moderator or members - checks new members every day against known scammers database -
Bad: already implemented as part of Greeting …
may be coincidence,
Good : better spotted if pre warned.more strict rules or user guidelines - Bad: we are trying to be “free-er”
more sections - Bad : tried before was confusing
more moderators - in handOr say Design out, the buggyist and least likely to succeed
eg. Say Captchas, Bad: that does not work against a human scammer.
In work, in school or in business or at a bank you are often asked to account for your self. That is to refine your plan to be feasible and to follow correct due diligence.
To me that does not mean we automatically are trying to stop you, to do that I would just shut up, and stop helping.
