Asus r9 270 running hot!!
-
So here is my situation. I have msi, His and asus r9 270. The his and msi cards run at around 50 to 60 Celsius. The his cards are even in my case. the msi and asus are on powered risers. the asus cards are running in the high 70s to mid 80s. I saw it hit 86 before i cut my ac on and that is even with a fan blowing on the back of the cards. The same config file for the his and asus cards in my computer with my case. His cards 60 and asus cards 79. Either these cards display the wrong temps or they are to hot. does anyone know what the max temps are that a r9 270 can run at? i read somewhere that amd claims ther cards are capable of handling up to 120. my brother and me where thinking of just letting them run on the mid 80s. if they pop just rma them. they are also voltage locked. My new server rack will be here soon and I plan on putting it in front of a ac window unit so hopefully that will help some but where i live the summers are real hot.

I had to read it multiple times to understand what was going on but this is what I think you are tryin to say.
You got 3 GPU’s:
HIS R9 270
MSI R9 270
ASUS R9 270All running the same config.
Or do you have multiple of each?
they are all running on the same mobo. 2 of them are on risers 1 is on the mobo.
the ASUS is running hotter (+/- 80) then the HIS and MSI (+/-55)

Is the ASUS reaching the same Hashrate as the HIS&MSI?
Every manufacturer uses different cooling on there GPU’s this could be causing the problem. However a difference of +/- 25c is pretty significant.
you don’t have to worry about a temp of 75c this won’t cause any damage. if you can keep it under 85c you should be fine.

i got 18 of them. they are all on different boards. i just swapped the ASUS cards around to see if it was a different rig that was causing them to heat up. yea they are all getting the same hash rate. the msi are getting 470. i dropped the settings on the ASUS to make them run cooler so the are running around 420. i have some sapphire 7870s that run cool. i thought about trying that heat sink on the Asus. It looks like they line up. This would let me know if the heat sink on the asus is the problem.
thanks for replying
