280x is King? I think not...

What’s a toxic on wattage use?
I’m considering building two additional rigs and torn between using 270xs or 750tis. I know I can get by with the cheapest 80 Gold Seasonic power supply (though might go with second cheapest) for cramming 6 nvidias, but don’t know about the toxics.
I run them on a Seasonic Gold 1250w PSU. Undervolted, 6 of them hover between 960-1000watts running Scrypt. It will be a bit less for you because you are running BAMT with no HDD and you can undervolt harder on Linux builds. However the fact that you can happily sit on 1175 for engine when I have to run 1160 because I’m running windows, there might be a tiny offset in the other direction, so it will probably be similar figures…
Running stock voltages it’s 1080-1120watts for 6 Toxics.

Running Scrypt, 430 for dual, 460 for Vapour-X and 500 for Toxic.
Interestingly, the dual is the most efficient, it’s got the best kh/s to watts ratio.
But hey, if we cared about that we’d all be running 750ti’s…
Seems a lot of miners are selling their GPU’s pretty cheap since some weeks.
Just managed to pick up some 3 months old Sapphire Dual R9 280x for €185,- each :-)
Their loss is my gain :-)
-
Yeah a lot of people don’t realise GPU mining is where the profits are right now, Algo’s other than Scrypt is where you make your money.
Gridseeds are going to be paperweights when the European Scrypt ASICS hit the market.

I did order 5 of these ‘paperweights’ to see what is going on with them…
But if coins are changing their algos, it all comes to the amount and speed of memory right ? Thats why the asics can’t deal with these new algos if i’m correct.
Wouldn’t that effect the different type of GPU’s also then, because some have 2GB, some 3GB and some 4GB…
-
I had 40 gridseeds, sold them on eBay whilst I could get my money back…
I’m not sure about your question, but I do know with algo’s like Scrypt-Jane, system ram comes into play…

6x Sapphire R9 270x = £1088.94 GBP (ebuyer)… worth it?

Every penny mate, get those badboy’s mining you’ve got yourself a 3Mh/s rig there @ 960 watts, cool and quiet as well…
-
Sapphire Dual R9 270x are €170,- so in pounds you should be able to get a better price

Does anybody have any data for the MSI 270x?
I’ll have a google too, but seeing as its on topic I’m really considering replacing my kit with these :) …plus I don’t believe everything I read on the internet, but from folk on here I do.
-
Not I, but the MSI 280x, you can undervolt the crap outta them, so perhaps it holds true with the 270x as well…

Hmm!! I really wanna! I already have 2 rigs set up at work, getting just over 5 MH/s mining on ftc.nut2pools.com
I dont pay electrics because I mine at work, problem is people at work would get pissy with me if I was to setup a 3rd RIG.
-
I used to run a rig at work hidden in the server room. The IT manager and I had 1 each. We had 2 x 290x cards in two coolermaster cases on top of the server racks.
Even with 4.8 Million fans on the case the cards sat at 94 degrees the whole time, nothing beats an open aired rig…

Maybe if its for home use where you would be paying for power its worth looking at the Nvidia 750ti
-
Am I to understand that these fatter memory 270x models (4GB in some cases) are still only netting 500KHs because of the architecture?
I’m not seeing any 270x Toxics on NewEgg right now. May go full 750ti.
Also, 750ti is rated at 60W a card, right? So I should be safe with an 80 Gold 650W for 5-6 of them, right?
DONN’T MATTAH DID IT ANYWAY
-
Wow when you say whole hog you are not joking!
But yes 60w per card I’ve got a three gigabyte card rig running happily.

I would get more RAM in case you ever want to run a high TC or use a RAM dependant algo like Scrypt-Jane.

Might be JUUUUST a bit shy on power. If it’s gold rated then 80% of 650 is 520watts. Cards drawing 360 watts. System around 100-150 watts. Might want to go the next step up, perhaps 750w or something…

Why not to buy the Asrock H81 or H61 BTC main board these are about €50 each an CPU Intel 1150/1155 cheapest is also €40
You need risers also

Got any experience with them? I read a lot of mixed reviews about these Mobo’s on NewEgg, the UD3 is a safe bet…

ha ha! Amazing, yeah…I asked my datacenter manager if I could put my rigs in our DC…he said no…power would cost too much.
At work in the office tho, our building contract includes electricity, so we pay the same amount no matter how much we use…so boom! 5 mh/s for me!
