"Safe Nodes?"
-
Hey guys, a pool owner is asking for a listing of safe nodes to help combat the orphans. Can you please post a public list as well, so other pool owners can add them and help us get out of this problem?
-
Would this help to mitigate the effects of the attacks?
I mean can you limit the client/daemon to only connect to a list of specific nodes?
If so, I’d be awesome to have a list of officially Feathercoin / Bushstar approved nodes.
I’d be willing to participate and keep my node running 24/7.

Safe nodes won’t work. The attackers will end up with the longer chain and they will then own it all.
Just some random thoughts: Instead of having the “longer chain” decide who’s right and who’s wrong, how about a trust system?
So nodes get trust levels (after each successful transfer from LTC address A to LTC address B I can give node A good (or bad) rating. Those ratings are per LTC address and are propagated through the network.
Newbie / attacker nodes would never have a chance to take over the network (because they have no good rating).

Releasing a checkpoint would be an idea.
Any checkpoints would help.
Ratings don’t work. Anyone who can attack like this can get fake ratings. Hell they can even make fake transactions sending from people with good ratings.
The only way to fix the 51% issue is to have multi stage confirmations so that only when all stages are complete do you get all the coins.
Complex is good, because everyone can participate. Complicated is not good, because only the big guns, the ones most likely to attack, can participate.
Participation is the answer.
Solutions that react will fail. Solutions which look ahead will succeed.
