I agree with most of your points. How do you propose we accomplish your last point? What vision do you have in your head? Please share.
I’ve learned over the last two years that simplicity and momentum make goals possible and all three make techniques relevant. So the way to kick that off, at least as I understand it is to find out what we’re all good at in general. We already have the teams, now we need the diversity.
Maybe this hobby/ideas space could be a learning website, FeatherSchool. FeatherCoin.edu would be awesome, but that’s not within our reach.

Really? I disagree. There is a market how small it is is irrelevant. To be a free market there is no size requirement. Just the market on this site is a market. Also free for people to choose what price to sell goods at and no taxes (as far as I am aware).
There is a speculative collective hallucination. That’s not a market. That’s a psychology experiment. And it’s hogging all the attention for very little opportunity.
Would you buy skis for going out on the lake and never put them on? Would you never use them on slopes? Would buy a bike and only ride it to work? Would you have a pet and never go out for a walk?
The experiment has been done. Looking at the fundamentals and previous coins Feathercoin is on the right track.
Sometimes it isn’t about the here and now but looking at staying ahead of the curve. I did quite well on that when I invested in Litecoins in March 2012 and ever since. I saw what was coming. No I did not know what price we would hit, but I had a good intuition that the crypto space is so tiny that any new money coming in is very bullish on the price aspect.
Now prices arent everything but prices drives mining, merchants, services, etc to setup shop to do business. That speculative price determines peoples confidence to a certain level, whether you or I like it or not, that is how it is.
The fundamentals are the fact that we’re discussing this at 6am to 9am+ on a Friday and no other coin is. We are basing our decisions on facing reality not drifting forward.
We are the curve at this point. Everyone else is putting on band-aids.
You rode the initial boost, now the vultures are circling. The ADHD contingent wants the original high to continue. Cryptocurrency is not new anymore. No one seems to see that there’s been a tectonic shift.
That used to work. Business used to evolve slowly. We were separated by 1000s of miles. We planned and moved in comfortable stages.
Except it’s not confidence at all. It’s pumping and dumping. Now depending on what fundamentals (see above) a currency has, it may rise above the curve and refuse to die (that’s us :) ). A pump and dump, to be residually beneficial, needs to allow room for business to benefit from the sudden window.
If pumps and dumps happen over weeks to months, it works. But lately, the window is only days long. And this community needs and deserves to have its hopes nourished. We earned the future dammit. :)

I agree with all points except the confidence in the market price. If price is just a pump and dump then all prices of all coins and commodities and stocks are the same.
That is your view on the matter but I look at it from the regular joe who doesnt think “pump and dump”. They think okay if I have X # of orders at Y price and the price per FTC is Z then I make A. And they pad it with extra % in case.
There you go confidence based on their own pricing done by their own free will in the free market.
If there is a USD price for every currency, then yes it would be up and down all over. But even then it would be in waves focusing on one or two currencies to maximize the profit and minimize the delay before the dump. So the strategy seems to be to select one or two and raid the currencies for all they are worth. Following the raid, you get the purists who attack and try to kill the infidel coins.
That is going to burn businesses. You think potential business starters like the day to day lifetime of a trend? You can’t just look at the price. Trends are the silent variable when considering the price.
What we have however is a group of people who understand where other currencies are failing and what they are able to do. This is our lucky break. We already know what we value. This community doesn’t only have the energy to last, we don’t have to explain to each other the nuances too much.
We need to stop thinking of Feathercoin as the new cryptocoin. This is why we are proposing changes and implementing them. Feathercoin is the flagship that liberates the community to achieve what it wants. We’re setting the standard while zombies keep saying we have nothing to offer.
We need to find what we can all do with a smile < Ie not C++ .py ‘jargon’, but what we are all good at AND enjoy doing. < There is a difference.
Personally I am a jack of all trades master of none, ex-builder, still keep my eye in (Mainly Windows…(Not Microsoft)…Doors and Conservatories and nowadays bespoke by appointment only) - Lifetime geek since my VIC20 PET days, I love anything that involves the challenge to create something completely different using latest methods & techniques and at the moment preferably in javascript & HTML5 - Although I get easily bored so ask me at the time - Although I’m an original thinker I prefer to be given/asked to step up to a challenge - BUT I won’t do anything that doesn’t interest me or fails to teach me new skills.
What about a sub forum (maybe in projects or whatever you see fit?) that lists threads using ‘jargon’? Then people can add to each one with what they see fit?

So to kind of summarize this:
We should start a orthogonal dynamic to the pump and dump. When the prices are off the wall, too low or too high, don’t dump to fiat or BTC. Instead purchase products off the market. In other words, take the money off the exchanges when things go wild. If someone tries to dump, make it so their dump is, suicidal. That is if they dump coins on the market, not only do they drop the price too low to profit much, but they risk having the same prices cause a huge up turn past their original price. This means the purists will have a difficult time getting people to join their blitzkrieg and then will end up having to watch the currency rebound much higher.
That pretty much ends the Bitcoin Alt Currency Kerfluffle.
The currency exchanges have no monopoly on defining value. As I said, we used to exchange after production. The currency exchanges are one of many ways of defining value and are in fact the most hypothetical. Cryptocurrencies carry little to any inertia to match their momentum which makes them so weird on the exchanges.
