What hardware have you been must impressed with/has had least amount off hickup
-
Tough a thread where people shared their experience about what hardware they have and what they are most impressed by.
I for one have several different mobo/gpu/psu/mem/cpu. And theres night and day difference in what has been most plug/play, had least trouble and so on.
Will make a post tomorrow where i write what i recommend of hardware and what i do not recommend. Please share your experience, especially gpu model/brand, psu brand/power/number of gpu you use on it/ and mobo (remember to write number of card you have been able to use with it. 5port mobo doesnt necessery mean able to run 5gpu!)

Oooo - Hardware reviews sub forum…
Well, you know my fave kit but for the guys that dont…
Seasonic PSUs. The x1250 in particular is legendary in my eyes. 1250w SINGLE RAIL, Clean power, efficient, double wired pin 10 on the 24pin ATX (stops fires! :P ) 8x 8pin pcie power connectors (most psu’s only have 6) and its cool running. I run 4x7970s on these and not a single hiccup. Pulled over 1450w from the wall and still carried on.
Gigabyte GV-797oc-3GD GPUs. i have 20 of them and love them! I know there are a lot 7950 fanboys out there but these run ~760Khs all day and night and get the coins in quicker. They are more expensive to buy and run but i feel that getting the coins in quicker whilst the diff is low is worth it. They also only draw 30w from the pcie slot so no fires :P . Cooling is bit poor though as they don’t vent heat out of the backplate, instead they blow it out all over the place which usually means straight in to the intakes of the surrounding cards. Nothing a box fan/air mover cant fix though. Not the quietest either but hey, neither is a Ferrari!
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboards. Dual BIOS, rock steady, double copper, runs 4 cards (not tried 5 tbh) and fairly cheap if you pair it with a sempron. They just work. Luckily these were the first ones i tried and saw no reason change. There may be better but i aint changing them. :)

seasonic x1250 is a really excellent psu for mining!
will buy more of em, just have to wait for the price to go down.
it has increased by allmost 20% since last time i bought! -
Nutnut i have one of those gigabyte 7970 oc cards. Which settings are you using to get 760khash? Will try on mine and if im able to get that to work i will buy 3 more for an 7970 rig:P
You mean 760… and not 1 card… 20! ;D ;)
edit: just seen 1 card drooped to 750 coz that’s the one that still has the monitor on.
If i bump to 1100mhz i actually get 770+ but it’s not that stable with 4 cards per board.

Lol thanks got 760 no problem with your setting.
Now i just have to figure out what to set the 7950 to.
Anyone having some great settings for this one? -

Mouth watering over here… can you please give a little more spec for your rigs: OS, drivers, CGMiner version, etc? Prepping to build my next rig, and thinking I may have to give your old faithful a try.
Thanks!
not that happy. the rig crashed after 5-10min (been stable for days before the new settings). had to remove em and now everything is stable again.
Do suspect the Enermax psu has gotten damaged though. soo im still really wanting to buy some 7970s -
If you have stability issues you can simply drop the --gpu-engine down by 10 at a time.
I’m off to the shed to build my headless xubuntu miners. Just tried once and got a whopping 2khs out of the cards! :o
Attempt 2 coming up…
Dont think that is the problem since the computer freezes completly, not the cards that get sick and suck.
regarding xubuntu:
if you run sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --odgt what does it say? -
cant remember exactly but it was all as it should be. Picked up all the cards etc.
i started getting nonce errors and found that it was some dodgy bit of code in the latest cgminer.
What driver versions/cgminer/xubuntu are you using?
I tried the latest from the get go and failed miserably.
I can’t believe I pulled that n00b trick on the question about CGMiner! I didn’t even pay attention to the screenshot beyond seeing the hash rates! Sorry for the stupid part of the question.
-
lol - no worries. I haven’t come back with a full spec yet as i’m just changing it all. The short versions though…
4xGigabyte GV-797OC-3GD
1xSeasonic x1250
1xGigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3

Guys…you get me really thirsty! I just wish I had a 3 Mh/s rig like one of yours. How much did it cost overally? less than 3k$?
I feel lost now with my poor 5850, OCed barely to 400 kh/s. -
my 2400khash (4x7950)rigs cost around 1800$ a pop
my ordered 3000khash (4x7970) ordered rig cost around 2400$.im not satisfied until i exceeds nutnuts hashing power ::)
for people that have money to invest, digital mining is truelly a goldmine.
especially ftc which i do believe will be much more worth in the future. -
