The problem I have with the EU is that there is no flat charge rate across it for sending SMS messages to other countries within it, I have heard this is hoping to be resolved within 5 years :o In the meantime I may add one or two EU numbers to the service, this will obviously be dependent on which country has the most Feathercoiners and who will use it the most.
The US is not a problem to be added as they have one rate for all 50 states, same as GB.
I will be adding the US once I have tested with a smaller user group in the UK.

An interesting concept to be sure :)One question, are the homeless likely to have a mobile phone when they have nowhere to charge it?
I don’t have official figures and can only report anecdotally my experiences working at the occupy camp but all the homeless I met had at least an old dumb phone. Nearly all of them had access to internet and email addresses. It’s a complex issue and a lot of people’s perception of the homeless is skewed by the media and what they see on the outside. But begging alone can get you between £60 and £100 per day. Many are practically homeless, they choose to be for a variety of reasons not least because of the private rental market in London which demands large deposits and numerous invasive security checks.
Feathercoin should aspire to give these people control over their personal wealth and give them an access to some sort of store of value. It could potentially also protect them from crime if we can work out a way to help them secure their private keys. I am working on this.
