Custom builds with developer boards!

I was looking around on there and it seems that i could get 3x pci-e lanes from it. If I could find a board where its has 4+ pci-e lanes I was thinking about building some custom 1x-16x daughter boards. The custom I/O connectors intrigue me…i wonder if I could convert them to a 1x lane or equiv.
