Lost most of my khash/s: fluke or hidden gem
-
so I just got into mining 3 days ago with my gaming pc. I have been using cuda miner to optimize my hash because I built this machine originally for games so it is running a GTX680 as well as a geforce 210 dedicated physx card that I picked up cheap. Now here is the kicker, I was getting the expected 170-200 khash/s from the GTX 680, but the 210 was giving me 200-210 khash/s.
I felt this was way off and confirmed through lightcoin’s hardware comparison on the wiki that my 680 was normal but the 210 wasn’t even listed and other similar priced cards were on the order of 6-20 khash/s. So while being curious I didn’t want to look the double hash rate gift horse in the mouth. Rebooted my computer tonight and now I get only 6 khash/s from the 210, more in line with what is expected from the card. While I know I shouldn’t be too surprised by this I’m wondering if i can get my old results back somehow. I have been running cudaminer with auto settings since I didn’t know what better to using being new, but it seems like the auto may have found a hidden gem in whatever setting it had first. Does anyone have any ideas as to what caused this, or on ways i could test to find the old setting?
Imagine what sort of mining could be done if we can figure out how to get 200 khash/s out of a low end card like the 210!

I think it was just a cuda miner bug or something, you won’t get such speeds from a low-end card. Sorry :(

I don’t disagree that it shouldn’t be. However, after just waking up this morning here is a picture of what I see. If it is just a glitch then shouldn’t I do something to fix it. Nothing has changed since my post last night however, this is the same instance of cudaminer, nothing has been reset and no settings have changed. It started at 6 khash/s last night and changed value to this now.
I should also mention you might notice that it sometimes gives the message “result does not validate on CPU!”, I did not notice this when it was going normal speeds.
