UNOCS Bridge update
-
Latest news is the site is down, and CloudFlare is serving up a cached copy of the “Alpha Penetration” message.
In short, it was vaporware all along.
-
It has been down for a while now. I am going to get some definite answers on this and get back here.
-
Kevlar, It’s been a while. Glad to see that you’re still around.
Bush, Thanks. I think we’d all greatly appreciate that.

Shame we can’t get something more on this topic, it was a big promote.
To be honest now I feel like “Lets delete all UNOCS posts and pretend it never happend.”
I cant imagine how WDC holders feel right now, UNOCS literally brought death to WDC.
And PXC? Not responding and developing PhenixEx instead of keeping partnership promises.I hope I am wrong and the whole situation will change, but so far it is a BIG disappointment for me.
I never really understood how the “unity” among cryptos would really end well.
I mean in the end if all of them are needing to grow and end up having short comings they will look out for their own. The lack of updates, the mere hyping of the supposed GATEWAY, and now the silence with the UNOCS site down shows where their focus isn’t.
Talk is cheap.
There should be less talking about what they are doing, and just do it. Once complete then announce it.

I spoke briefly to the chap behind Phenix about UNOCS and where the site has gone, he said that their business plans have changed and he would like to meet later in the week.
Perhaps launching such a system with exclusive support of FTC, WDC and PXC is no longer financially viable. Justabit hints in the message below that there is a system still in the works and that we will be invited to use it.

At a guess Phenix will create the Bridge but open it to many coins.
In other words, they are going to follow CoinPayments which has been available for a while already. Doesn’t make much difference to Feathercoin in particular and the market in general.

I was wrong, apparently the Bridge will still open and will be exclusive to FTC, WDC and PXC. The UNOCS site is only down to issues with the host. Currently the Phenix dev is working on getting fiat to the Phenex exchange. I would say that Phenex is going to provide a backbone of services for the Bridge.
To free up the dev to work on the Bridge I did pitch in with a patch for PXC after the one they released before changed the mint rate by reducing the block time but not the coin reward. I’m trying to help where I can :)

If UNOCS does not happen I have serious doubts that PXC and WDC will be able to survive. Our best best is to stick to our guns and hold all 3 together. WDC is seriously dropping as the UNOCS initial release keeps getting further into the past.
I think PXC will survive since they seem to have some other projects such as phenix poker or phenix exchange. As I have said before, I have doubts in the PXC developer’s ability to code the UNOCS bridge but I will wait and see. I am also worried about WDC. I mined that one for awhile but if the WDC forum activity is any indication, dont think their community is strong enough to push it forward alone.
Edit: To be clear, if WDC is not tied to FTC, I don’t think it will last in the long term.
no one uses phenix poker, i log on every day hoping to play just one hand… their exchange is just another exchange…so that wont help their coin unless you can buy pxc with real $ there. Our community has died down a lot recently as well, it seems that there are a lot of people just waiting to see if UNOCS is going to happen. On top of that when UNOCS was launched the value of FTC exploded, I really think if any of the 3 coins are going to survive it needs to be together. As a side note, the WDC patch will fix a lot of the problems the coin currently has with short block times and producing a lot of orphans.

The whole thing is an unmitigated disaster of the most damaging kind.
If the developers wanted to collaborate, they should have collaborated. Instead they turned the community into a propaganda hype machine, made a shit ton of promises, and kept none of them making the entire thing a very ugly and damaging joke for those who invested.
Quit the PR publicity stunts and go back to writing code. Dissolve the public partnership bullshit and focus on working together to provide real value, not smoke up our collective asses.
