More details of them here…http://videocardz.com/45837/amd-hawaii-gpu-2816-stream-processors
I am excited by that shader count :)
Pay attention to 512-bit vs. 384-bit memory data bus. Although Hawaii’s clock speeds are likely to be lower than Tahiti’s as their TDP and manufacturing process are the same nearly. -

Seems my 7990 just died, perfect timing=P

What amount of hash will this one bring?
It was just heat, i have rearranged the setup of my farm, meaning the basement is 30degrees.
Something the 7990 didnt like and set cores to rested. It chopping away again at 100degrees (124 on VRM ;D)

Is it wrong of me to be more excited by this, than by actuall porn? ???
-
I am pretty excited for these. Hoping that the big guys can pull over 1MH/s with 250 watts or less. If that is the case I will be buying several of the higher end cards. It looks like with more memory, more bandwidth, and shaders that these guys should hash really well. Crank up that TC and watch hash rate climb!!!
-
If the price/hash/power consumption is good i will swap out all my 7950´s for that badboy ;D
No, that’s a normal behaviour of hard core miners :D
It’s going to be much more expensive than HD7970 for a few months until the prices start to decrease. I think power consumption will be about the same.
-
The biggest issue i can see (from my point of view).
Is that if it uses more power than 7970 oc, i will not be able to have 4 cards per rig, since the psu will not be able to deliver that kind of power.
And im using Seasonic x1250 so there aint much larger PSU´s out there (Enermax 1500w do not count!) -
Lol, need myself a nuclear power plant and i will become GOD ;D
Seems my cousin are going to buy himself a house, i have gotten him way into crypto.
So hopefully i will find second home for my rigs ;) -
As soon as I saw the ddrs I knew this was 4GB… but… aprox how many Mh/s?

Well the 7970 can do 3.8-4.0 TFLOPS. The new 290X Hawaii does 5. Thats around 25% increase. The 7950s are around 200 dollars and the new cards are reported to be around 600 dollars. I think the 7950 will still be the best mining card until the 290X decrease in price.
I wouldn’t be so sure about that, it is much more about architecture than it is about TFlops. Averaging the scaling somewhere between 7950@650 KH/s and 7970@750KH/s the 290X will be at about 1020 KH/s. This does not take into account the architecture improvements which should boost this a bit. Also I am wondering if a new miner leveraging AMD’s “Mantle” graphics interface could do a lot more. With “Mantle” the programmer will get hardware level control of components. This will hopefully allow the new series of cards to be optimized for mining at a hardware level, reducing latency, and increasing performance.
-
The 290X Looks like it will give a great hash rate but it depends on price. The older cards may come down in price enough to make them more economical for a while. Pretty impressive card from AMD on paper I have to say. Good to see them coming on over the last couple of years.
I think however this is even better news for miners with current hardware. 850Khash say is not a quantum leap over 7950’s & 7970’s unlike Bitcoin and the transition to ASIC. It’s the one thing I really like about Scrypt mining is the stability of hardware updates and not having bet on which pre order ASIC will ship first and which won’t ever get an ROI.
It will be interesting to see how far the 290x can be pushed. Time will tell.

The 290x is doing 850 on stock clocks while using the 7950 cgminer settings. Should be even better once the optimal settings are determined.http://www.overclock.net/t/1437876/290x-mining-performance.
Good to know, these guys should hit 1MH easily. I think the TC would need to be ramped up a bit compared to the 7950/70. I also am interested in how much leverage Mantle has over these GPUs because I suspect a Mantle run miner could both reduce overhead and boost hash rate. I wonder if the audio processor built in to this could also hash??? I wish my dev job didn’t take up all my time so I could actually look into this myself and take a stab at it.
-
ive just killed 3x 7950 and one 7970. So hopefully the 290x will be topnotch regarding hash/power consumption ;D
Got full refund for all cards so im ready to reinvest ;)

Who got their R9 290X cards and actually has them running? Let’s hear some actual numbers! :o
As of now the new series do not perform considering price range. Will need a fixed cgminer to optimize it for the new series it seems.
The 290x should push around 1Mhash with some tweaking, but its far from that with 7-800khash
