15 Characters would take a while on a GPU as well :)
Anyway, how vain are you, Chris? :D -
It would be nice to have addresses with my full name. But At this speed I get them in just shortly before the sun dies…
“Chris” will have to suffice. I already got one working for bitcoin, now to make it work with feathercoin and litecoin :)

Is the 64 bit version good to use? (obv. if you are on 64 machine)
It doesn’t make a great deal of difference tbh Markus, the real gains are to be had from the GPU, but even with a lot of characters, that can still take thousands of years :)
FTCVanity.exe v1.00 officially released, I have updated the OP accordingly!
Let me know how you all get on…As it’s still work in progress… -
Thanks for the release, but still the same problem:
Prefix ‘6Chris’ not possible
Hint: valid bitcoin addresses begin with “1” -
Hmmm yes 6Chris or 6chris doesn’t work :-\ , 6test does though :D
What command line parameters did you input to create your 6Chris address in the end?Edit: Are you sure you have created a valid 6chris for a Feathercoin address? It’s looking more like the 6c or 6C is out of the range of valid possibilities for a 6 prefix address?..
Double Edit: Re-read your posts, you got it working for Bitcoin :), yeah it is looking like 6chris or even 6c anything is not possible for a FTC address…You might have to try 6RChris that should work!

I used your feathercoin script. And on the console I just used vantitygen -X 14 6Chris
Why would 1C be possible for bitcoin, but 6C not be possible for Feathercoin? Sorry a bit confused here.
It’s all hex to me too :), I suppose the same way 2 + 2 !=5 and never can be unless the input 2 is altered to 3 or the applied maths changed (in this case the version/application byte altered), it all has to add up in order to produce a valid base58 private key and a 34 character address I suppose… :-\
Although only related to Bitcoin address’s it’s enough to hurt your head :D

Currently working on v1.01, all being well I should have the .exe and source up later on today:
Did it still run/work from your T: Drive? (i never checked that :-\ , although it should still work as I’m sure I never mentioned C: anywhere ?)…Let me know on this…
Yeah that is definitely on my to do list though, I chose root for simplicity and workability tbh. Currently concentrating more on functionality first, the finer tweaks will be added in due course. 8)
I am working on a function to import the private key into the client at the moment, although limited due to the client having no fixed abode :(

Woo got my first vanity address! I actually used oclvanitygen to get it since it’s faster with a gpu, but I used yours for a shorter pattern and it worked! Not to mention I used the parameters you had for yours to generate the address in oclvanitygen.
Thanks UKMark!
Great news and thanks for FB, I will add support for the GPU generators eventually.
I am slowly thinking that importing the private keys from cmd is not a valid option as far as I can tell this is done via the Feathercoin daemon when ran from command line or that the client needs a .conf to be ran as a -server (both of which add further headaches tbh, considering that importing them into the client manually is not really rocket science to do) I may just simplify things a little so the user can import themselves from a generated text file or similar. Still undecided though :-\
If anyone does know of a way to import private keys directly into the client from cmd can you please post below with a how-to… 8)

v1.02 released OP DL link & source updated.
Been busy today :)Changelog:
Now offers full GUI frontend (vanitygen now runs as hidden background task)
Added error message for invalid Feathercoin pattern input (as reported by vanitygen)
Added README to menu button
Added ability to store created keys
Added ability to view stored keys
Added ability to permanently delete stored keys (recommended if you are using any of them in your wallet)
Added ability to install program in the directory of your choice. As I have now set vanitygen as a background task I will be adding the ability to open up stored keys in a text editor for easier copy & pasting of the Private Key, for now any stored keys are located at \FTCVanity\key.txt
If anyone feels that they are getting false positives for the input pattern error, then please let me know below and include the exact pattern that you entered.
-
v1.03 released.
Changelog:
Added ability for user to select whether vanitygen runs in hidden (default) or verbose (open) mode.
Added ability for user to open stored Vanity Addresses & Private Keys in notepad.exe for easier importing (copy/paste etc) in to the Feathercoin client.
Added further error checking for any reported Pattern Errors that are definite false positives (an error message will be displayed if this bug is encountered for the user to report here on the forum).
Cleaned up main menu background graphic to remove excessive image noise in white areas. -
v1.04 released.
Changlog:
FTCVanity is now totally menu driven (see latest screenshot in OP)
Updated menu screen graphics with animated matrix and Feathercoin logo
Now support oclvanitygen for faster GPU vanity address generation
.exe also comes bundles with verified OpenCL.dll which is required for oclvanitygen to work.I have no means of testing oclvanitygen because all of my GPU’s are tied up on my Linux miner, so I am relying on user Feedback as to whether it works as should :)
