7970 cgminer low k/hash
-
Okay thanks. When I get off work ill give that a try
-
You have set gpu-threads: 1. Set it to 2 like in d2’s config file ;)
And try with 1050 on the core (engine) first like nutnut&sven suggested. Then start increasing in 10 or 5 Mhz steps until you notice your hasrate drops, which will probably be between 1060-1090. depends on the card. =)
-
What brand of 7970 are you running? You need to find the right core/mem clock ratios to maximize your KH/s. Also depending on the manufacture you may need to spend time adjusting your TC value. I could not get my MSI 7970s above 680KH/s regardless of settings till I found running a TC of 21115 would give me 740KH/s per card.

I use 1075 / 1500 for 755kh/s on my Sapphires. Keep in mind not all brands or models are the same though as is evident with the XFX cards…
“intensity” : “13,13,13,13”,
Okay so I have the exact same card as you… so I used your config file and with everything the same I get 423k/hash… if I change my gpu-threads back to 1 instead of 2… I get 564k/hash.
Not sure why my system is so retarded… no matter what clock I put them at I can’t even get into the 600’s :(
I think my card might be different from everyone elses… I got the 7970 the day it came out so it’s the very first reference model… maybe mine can’t go past the 500’s
With your config, im getting only 365KH stable.
If im runing without your config - 560KH stable…
HD7970 vapor-x 6gb edition…
Giving 50FTC who make 680-700KH stable:)
-
did you try to just set “gpu-threads” : “2” in your own config file?
hmmm you’ve got a 6gb card … trying to increase the thread-concurreny up to as high as 32768 might also be worth a try, since you have twice the amount of memory for each shader processor than the usual 3gb models.
have you testet how high you can go with the intensity levels using your own config file? since it was set to gpu-threads:1 you should’ve been able to increse intensity um to 18, 19 or even 20.
360-390KH :) i have no idea wth is going on…i tryed maybe 100 different configs + mine own…nothing…
EDIT:
in last few h i get what i want…
650KH stable, but in 40min of run i get 4HW.
My target is 680-700KH, i hope tomorrow i will get it:)

Well I played with the clock speed from all the way down to all the way up in increments of 5 and the best I can get is 594 and it’s at 1125/1575. I’ve tried at least 20 different 7970 settings from this and other forums and they all tank my hash rate… spec if the gpu-thread is set to 2. Not sure why mine is so different. And of course all the video cards are sold out or I would just buy a newer model and sell this one. Guess i’m doomed to the 500’s
-
post your entire config file pls?
-
tinker with your powertune. set it to -20 and set your clock to 1049. i was having issues with this today ( 280x ) and that actually helped. Also gpu thread should always be 2.
-
I’ve messed with my powere tune at every number. And any combination with gpu thread 2 tanks mys my hash to the 300-400s
I will say though if I go to a clean cgminer with no config file open it up with no errors… then write a new config file… then restart cgminer… it says
“error in configuration file, partially loaded.”
“start cgminer with -T to see what failed to load.”I have no idea why there would be an error in a fresh config, and I have no idea how to start cgminer with -T to see what error it is. Maybe if I could figure out how to do that I could find my problem.
-
those are some crazy high numbers. whats your heat? did you try 2 threads instead of one?
-
with -g 2 ?

Yesterday arrived my 7970 and i had a lot of problem to get a nice kh/s. I was like 5 hours triying a lot of settings until i could reach at those average 720kh/s for that kind of gpu.try this config, maybe works for you too:
–scrypt -g 1 -w 256 -I 13 --gpu-fan 70 --no-submit-stale --thread-concurrency=22336 --gpu-engine=1160 --gpu-memclock=1700 --auto-fan --gpu-powertune=9
–scryptI have a Sapphire 7970 Dual-X
greetings
this is the first post that actually got me more hash… and i’ve tried… 50+ ones from this site and online. Gets me to 618k/hash… but is it safe to run 1160/1700? Even my o/c only goes to 1125/1575
Your hash rate depends on your motherboard and other configuration.
Every should find it for himself.
Read SCRYPT-README file in cgminer and you will found the best kh
