[Solved] Error loading blkindex.dat PLEASE HELP !
-
Please could one of you knowledgeable people help me with this …?
Basically I have installed the Feathercoin client, yesterday, but before it was fully synced the pc was powered off abruptly. Now when I launch Feathercoin to access my wallet I get the above error.
I did a backup of the wallet.dat file & then re-installed BUT I am still getting the error when I try to open it :(
I am using Windows 7 (32b)
Oh also … Does anybody know if the Android Feathercoin wallet app is safe and legit ?? Many thanks in advance for any help

The database is the Blockchain. The wallet is your keys to the block chain.
The index of the Blockchain database can be damaged by a power off. This is common to all database systems.
I suggest, creating a shortcut to the feathercoin-qt.exe file with the switch -rescan
feathercoin-qt.exe -rescan
That will re-index the blockchain.
If not delete the database and re download the blockchain.

Also, my son uses the Android App so I hope it’s legit!

Damn it !
Still will not work >:(
I have completely uninstalled it except I have kept a backup of the wallet.dat file. After re-installing though It still keeps giving me the same error when I attempt to launch it:
Error loading blkindex.dat
Could somebody please give me an idiot proof guide on what to do to remedy it.
Thanks again

to what I know of the wallet is safe but like any device if your connected to any sort of wifi network your always vulnerable of a MIM attacks so if using a wifi network dont use any apps for personel uses whatsapp is one of the worse they dont even bother encrypting your data first so if on a network if someone is using a sniffer they will get your full conversation including photos use kik instead

If anybody else does have this issue … From what I have read and from my experience it is caused by the interruption of the block chain being downloaded.
In my case the power was pulled on the PC when it was in sleep mode and the synchronization had not been completed. It can take a while the first time …
Just backup your wallet.dat file
This can be found by right clicking on the feathercoin shortcut and clicking ‘view file’
Locate the wallet.dat file, then copy & paste it somewhere else safe
Then uninstall the Feathercoin client & re-install
Then replace the new wallet.dat with your backup
Then delete the blkindex.dat file, just above, and launch feathercoin
It should now work & will start the sync process again

Go to %appdata%\roaming\feathercoin
Delete blkindex.dat
reopen feathercoin. It will rebuild the transaction log
