\[Solved\] Difference between hashes shown in CGMiner and pool
-
I am mining with an R9 270x using CGMiner. I’m getting a rock soild 330-350KH/s with absolutely no hardware errors over about a 48 hour period.
The thing is Coinotron show’s different stats varying between 167-503MH/s, why is this? Do you think it will average out to my actual rate?
I’ve done a lot of Googling but can’t find a specific answer. A lot of people seem to have different answers…
If anyone can shed any light on this I’d be very grateful.

CGMiner shows actual hashes per second.
Coinotron shows average hashes per second as calculated by the average shares submitted over a given timeframe. Since finding a share is a random chance, your actual share submission rate will vary, thus your reported hashes per second will vary.

OK so should I pay more attention to CGMiner or the pool?

The pool’s. If it dips alarmingly and doesn’t recover, you’ll earn nothing regardless of what CGMiner might be saying.

OK thanks very much.

Hello, I am using the same card (R9 270X). What configuration are you using, if you don’t mind sharing. Thank you
