Cgminer setting for pools with longpoll - Queue Scantime Expiry

Press “S” in cgminer and the following menu appears.

Expiry: 10
Write config file
Cgminer restart
Select an option or any other key to return [/quote]I’ve never got round to setting these, and only just got round to finding what they mean. I know my rough settings were based on the wrong thing. I aligned them with the coin production, but it should have been for p2pool average expire time for longpoll (10s).
Still not found a great explanation what they do and why.
