\[SOLVED\] rigs keep dropping connection
-
hello peeps
ive just had a new superhub from my bb provider installed, havent had the rigs on in a while, anyway my connection keeps dropping out since i got this new hub, done a bit of research on the net and apparently this superhub is basically a s**thub, many people having connection timeout issues etc etc,the fix is to switch it into modem only mode and buy a decent router to plug into it,which is what ive done, but im still getting issues, the rig will randomly loose connection stop mining but keep spinning fast and running cold, ive tried changing cat5 cable,re written usb img etc but still the same,im running cgminer 2.11.3 and bamt 0.5c,hope someone can shed some light on my problem and maybe a fix
thanks for reading
UPDATE:after hours of tireless reading on the net and trying all sorts of fixes i finally sorted out my disconnection problem,i basically edited bamt.conf and made all rigs static ip and not one disconnection since…http://www.bitcointrading.com/forum/linux-distros/bamt-version-0-5-easy-usb-based-mining-linux-with-farm-wide-management-tools/tryingmining

Does it connecting back to broadband it self or you have to restart rig/router?

Edit : if it gets connected back it’s self than you can try Cgwatcher, just set up to restart cgminer if it goes lower than, let say 50 % of your average hash rate. It will give you a rest, while you looking for solution to fix your problem.
Hope it helps -

[/quote]i have to restart the rig and wait for ip addy to appear in router settings and then re run cgminer, ive done a fact reset on both hub and router but still drops out, I’m about to change cat5 cable when it arrives, process of elimination -
id start with a direct connection to broadband modem. if you dont have dropoffs there then you know its your switch / superhub / router / whatever you’re calling it

hi
i have moved both rigs into my house and plugged them both directly into this superhub, both connecting fine and been running for about 4 hours, ive just returned home and same error message on both cgminer terminals "network error caused software abort "
ive searched this error and from what i can find its a windows error (timeout) still non the wiser on a fix, thought id cracked it earlier with them both plugged directly into hub, before i got this new hub id never had this issue,so maybe i need to get it changed, will plug a screen in and try and see whats going on,doing my brain in tbh !! beauty of mining i guess -
parden the bump… but im still having issues with this “network error software caused abort” msg whilst cgminer is running, getting the same error whilst plugged directly into modem, ive enabled tcp keepalives in putty and tried various times but still cant get round it,can anybody shed any light for me please

Are you mining over wireless? Because I have never gotten that to work correctly. During my short wireless mining period, I had rigs dropping off the network like flies.

no im wired direct, cant work it out,i had them working a while back 24/7,only difference is im using win8 not xp, -
Name your broadband supplier…
I have had a couple of suspect modems from mine over the years, kinda coincides with when they come out to upgrade me to the latest and greatest modem thats going to cure all my problems… then when the little man turns up he takes one look at my setup and says, you should have a business connection, and I’ll leave this with you as you know more about these things than I do by the looks of it LOL

hi
bb provider = virgin media same ???
funny enough this problem started after they changed my modem/router to the new suoer duper router, ive had that changed for another one, over the phone i told an agent t i had rigs,he said the same, you need a business connection !! the man that turned up had absolutely no idea what i was talking about when i mentioned mining etc, seems funny that before they changed the router i had no issues whatsoever,i even asked for the old router back but they werent having any of it
so now ive got a set up that wont run for longer than 6 hrs which worked fine before they changed modem and now they tell me i need a business connection to make them stable !!! you couldnt make it up !!! oh and obviously more money -
solved,see post #1
