Need something more “closed” and wife friendly.
Seems like a good solution for “mining” rigs, buut. not for something to put in the living room
Go with a full tower and water cooling blocks on the cards.
Watercooling is a bitch to handle, did that mistake before (reference design pcb issues etc…)
Seems i might have to make my own case :) -
I vote for regular case with watercooling.
Save space.
Eliminate noise.
Suitable, most elegant solution for livingroom mining… -
Have you had a look at https://openrigs.com/?
Just bolt on some side panels your self and you have a cheap semi closed mining case. :)

I would assume having a money tree in the living room is very wife friendly.
Lucky i have a 100 square basement i don`t use. Perfect for making a feather coin factory.
yeah, they do look nice. but once again is miner look and not a
“computer” case. need space for bluray drive, 8 discs big as cpu cooler and so on.
all cased inside four walls so it just looks like a box under my desk. it also has to be kids secure, which means no open part/fans -
Maybe CaseLabs or MNpctech could do it for you?

Here are some photos of a modified HAF-XB case to work with 5 gpus on risers. Its the only case that I know of that could be modified to do this. :)https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7216.4260
will look into this. close to what i was after

Are you sure you have to run them in certain slots for mining to work? I think the dedicated slots for GPUs is so that the PLX chip can work properly with XFire and SLI…don’t quote me on that though. I have the same exact mobo and I LOVE IT…with that said I am running GPU 1 in the top most 16x slot and the 2nd in the bottom most 16x slot. I want to run 3 with one slot between each (top red, middle black, bottom red)…maybe ill have to test that when I have time later this weekend.
I use this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352029
Super high build quality and fractal uses almost no rivets in any of their cases…it saved my ass on an itx build where I needed to remove the psu mount. Everything in the case can be removed because its all screws and thumb screws. It comes with 9x expansion slots so plenty of room for GPUs and silencing materials on the inside of the case with dust filters everywhere.
I have this sketch that says what to put where. Tried putting em elsewhere but it didnt work, bios didnt recognise the other card.
Sent a message to Asus and they told me that no, its not possible. you have to use X and X slot if your gonna go single/dual/tripple/quad.
Which i find AMAZINGLY stupid… I would love to be proven wrong on this one ;D then i will get me another 7990 ;D -
Go to Ebay and look for “8020 aluminum” if you’d like to roll your own…Should only cost you around $120 for each open frame with great airflow…
Here is one that I build recently -
