whats the pool reporting…my guess would be somewhere around 1.5 MH/s total… are these R9 270s? the second number is wrong and the first is accurate

Too good was what I was thinking…
It was a pair of 280X toxics and then i changed the MoBo and added an MSI 280X rebooted it and this is what I got!
I’m sitting there thinking this can’t be bad, spend another £ 250.00 go from 1.48Mh/s to over 3Mh/s and increase the power at the wall from 700w to just under 1Kw bang for buck that was working for me.
I never noticed the time stamps when I was looking at it, but after a reboot she settled down and is now doing a steady 2.18Mh/s but the power consumption is out of the roof! need to spend some time on it over the next few days and tune it up a little more for Kh per Watt and see if I can’t sort out the under volting using BAMT.

I just returned 3 of these http://skinflint.co.uk/msi-r9-280x-gaming-3g-bf4-v277-062r-a1041763.html to the retailer, b/c of their crazy power conspumtion.
They wouldn’t even undervolt properly with BIOS modding :-/
Out of the box they ate like 950W (total system) at the wall. The best I could get was 870W @ wall.
I replaced them with 3 PowerColor Turbo duo OC and maybe I just got lucky, but they are pulling 670W @ 1.03v and total hashrate of 2080Kh/s. Going to test 1.02v once they did 48h stable. *fingers crossed" … my dream goal would be 2000+Kh/s @ 600W :D -
Did you try to lower voltage in afterburner? All of my msi 7970s are voltage unlocked in afterburner only and my sapphire cards are only voltage unlocked in trixx.
Yes I tried both, AB latest beta + Trixx =( 1.15v was the lowest possible setting. Even flashing the BIOS did not help. The card would not even boot into Windows properly (BSOD or freeze after a few seconds w/o load on the GPU) :-/ at e.g. 1.13v. Maybe it was just a bad batch - a really bad one :p

I’ve not tried under windows yet (need to get some mining in as coin count is very low) but using cgminer under BAMT the lost I can get both my Toxics and my MSI is 1.2v
It hasn’t made a difference to the hash rate, but has made being anywhere near the rig a much more pleasant experience and has broth the power down a little :P
I’ll keep going on it at doe point in the near future when I get time, and let you know how it goes
