What is the Feathercoin Difficulty?
-
I have seen a few members under misapprehensions about what “Difficulty” means with regard to Alternate currency.
Difficulty is probably the heart of Satoshi’s distributed transaction mechanism. It increases automatically with the number of miners on the network to maintain the block transaction time, 2 1/2 mins in the case of Feathercoin.
Satoshi realised that lots of machines could do lots of hard calculations, we call these miners. If you doubled the amount of mining power you needed to make the equation difficulty twice as hard.
This is done by finding -> The question, who’s answer is a number representing “The next Transaction details”,
the question has got to be proceeded by either 000001111 , 5 noughts In this case it can be 1 to 1111.
As there are more miners you increase the rarity of the question needed e.g 000000001… 8 noughts as it get harder. In this case the question must equal 1.
The less numbers are available to find to give the correct answer, block details. Thus the difficulty of the equation is higher or harder to find, if you reduce the highest number of the potential answer.
If you then work out the Difficulty (or rarity) of the required answer, such that the machines running the algorithm, will find the answer in about 10 mins (in the case of Bitcoin).
In fact the real coin “Transaction number” is part the previous block, and that is why, it is called the block chain. Because each block is found by chance the timing of each block can naturally vary, and is not to the clock.
