Main computer mining rig

Just watercooling your GPU loop?
-
Was the main plan, but might as well water-cool the cpu to
-
There was a fantastic website which you entered all the details into and it spat out the numbers. I’ll see if I’ve still got it bookmarked.

Forgot this one.
Thanks! looking into getting an 4x 290X setup for my main computer.
Did some calculation and looking at 4,5Month ROI time
-
That’s pretty rapid. What’s the investment?
-
Looking at around 850GBP for the cooling solution.
1x Cooler Master HAF Stacker 935 cabinet
2x HW Labs Black Ice SR1 360 Radiator (should handle 600w each)
6x Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120mm fan
1x Swiftech MCP655 waterpump
1x XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25" Reservoir for Laing D5
3x EK Waterblocks EK-FC R9-290X
Then 3x 290X == 1200 GBP
So total im in for 2050GBP
Looking at coinwarz i make around 18$ pr day (subtracted the electrisity) it will take 6.5Months to reach ROI, 4,5 if i add an fourth card.
However this ROI could go up and down depending on how smart i mine/sell. Also i then would sell my 7990 which should bring in around 400GBP (its that dry out there, sold my 7970 for 250GBP…)
The difference here is that this will be my gaming rig, and basement “heater”, not like my rigs in the caravan than just heats outside >:D

This sounds like such a fun project. Have you considered Yate Loon for your radiator fans over the Noctua? They are usually much cheaper and similar performance*. Any plans for the loop design?
* It’s been a few years since I last purchased watercooling gear.

No i havent, just looked up Yate loon 120mm, their 1/3 of the price.
Kinda worried about the noice level though, spec says 40DB
I really love those noctua (used em in previouse build, and their wisper silent), but that was the version not meant for radiators.
I need something that runs faster, warms more, and are more silent. Im going crazy sitting next to my 7990 maschine (yes i do NOT turn of mining when sitting there, did it once and it got damn cold!, and no money:P)
-
Think im gonna skip the reservoir, dont see the need for it after looking at this one:
-
Yeah the Yates are something like 1/3 of the price but something like 90% of the same performance. If I remember correctly it’s static pressure you are after for a radiator fan. I’m sure there will be some comprehensive reviews out there comparing the two.

I will google a bit, cause it would be an high powersaver.
85GBP removed just for replacing the reservoir with an T-Line setup (also more space free’d up!)
Would be another 90GBP cost reduction if i went with the Yates instead:)
Any more tips is much appriciated!
Not to sure about if its the best rad (cooling/silence vice the web says yes)
-
I’ve got the 240 ;)
-
Gonna replace with the Yate Loon D12SH-12 120mm fans! huge savings, and ill just throw in an fan controller frontpanel.
That way i can turn it down while gaming/programming etc, and turn it back up when the GPU’s run with load O0

240 what? the radiator?, well whats your take on it?
-
sorry… the 240 version of that radiator. Yeah, it’s served me well, but my loop had nothing on it like you are planning haha
-
A couple of changes so far:
Total now is 732GBP for the cooling solution.
plus an additional 150GBP for the case, and 1200GBP for the GPU’s
Man i need bitcoin value to rise so i can cash out some funds:P
-
3x Sapphire 290X has been ordered :P
Gonna start off just having it on extenders stacked outside the case! cause today morning it was -5 degrees outside and im FREEZING!
Then i can take me some sweet time in regards to setting up watercooling properly

I’d like to look at building a main computer miner, my PC just sits there most of theweek. Is it possible to have the mining program work as a screen saver and kick in automatically when idle and suspend on wake? Can mining be paused/suspended easily? I’ll admit, I’m a virgin miner, I know nothing.
