I think I'm in trouble.

Card yoinked, attempting surgery tonight. Maybe chock full of a silicon lubricant will do it.
-
Good luck!

Hope send me the part number of your card and i will see what ideas I can come up with!
Also your not due to start your wining mining session for a couple of weeks, but the winner for this weeks session hasn’t contacted me yet, so if your happy to go early I’ll chuck you on a rig from tomorrow some time that has 4 cards in it not 3 so you should have 3Mh/s not the 2.25Mh/s you won so that should help you make up your loss

Hi Hope, there is good information in this thread about oiling the fan bearings that might help you.
-
Will you change your name to FanStillTurns after UM fixes the problems for you?
-
Haha, I destroyed the fan getting it out of there. Unscrewed the brackets but after trying to pull the stickers off to see if there were screws underneath the back literally fell apart in my hand. I was able to get a model of the fan proper, so I’m going to hit parts sites to see if I can find it: FirstD DC Brushless FDC10H12S9-C DC 12V 0.35AMP
The card is a Sapphire Dual-X 7950 3GB wait a second brb, this one:

That would be fantastic. Because apparently even though I pulled the card and the riser from my rig tonight it STILL shut itself off for some reason since it’s not reporting to any of the pools which means this wasn’t causing the shut off issue. GAH.
It’s gotta be something in BAMT. I’m going to retry getting Xubuntu running on it. Looks like I’ll be biking over to the shop where it’s at at 6AM tomorrow. It had a week of uptime too.
This seems exact but the blades are translucent smokey as opposed to flat black, which may be the reason for the model difference. Doesn’t have a picture of the end connector, though. Will remeasure.

Would recommend lookin at: http://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/products/cooling/vga/accelero-xtreme-7970.html
For third party option, those sapphire oc card (standard fan) are shit. i think half of my cards failed over time on the fan (roughly 10 cards)… especially if you push it to 90% (i ran em at 80%)
Those arctic Accelero things made my 7970 cards run at 65degrees! and dead silent! an worthy investment imo >:D

Crap, I got the fans on all my Sapphire’s running at maximum attack 24/7… So what’s my life expectancy?
-
3-4 months…
Thats how long it took before my fans starting to get unbalanced ran em on 85%, making extra strains on the fan motor, and in the end getting harder and harder to the extent that they could spin at full speed anymore.
Those sapphire basic fans reeeeeeally are low end quality (not as bad as XFX, but we are getting there…)
-
dat cost tho
Okay, I went over there this morning because I was hoping that the “Hybrid” switch might’ve just gotten flipped and it wasn’t getting enough power. Someone there apparently went ahead and reset it earlier, I changed the settings on the temperature and fans to be more forgiving now that the offending card was out aaaand after biking to the mall where I’m supposed to be at for the rest of the day, I pull up my pool pages and nothin’. Went down again.
Re-prepping Xubuntu for tonight.

How come I can’t find replacements, then? There should be millions of them out there.
Unfortunately because of my hosting situation I don’t really have the luxury of buying a $100 heatsink/fan on top of an already expensive card. Unless they sell them at NewEgg.

OK I’ve just switched to gpu-fan 20-100 & auto-fan… They are much less revvy now, temps are good…
Thanks

Noticing the same phenonemon on my 280x oc edition from Sapphire (only have four of those cards, so… so far 25% failure rate). It has been running for 1.5Month.
Such shit, much wow :)

I didn’t want to bite the bullet on this but I have already spent way too many hours pouring over aliex and ebay and everywhere else to find an exact replacement; doesn’t exist. Nowhere. And what company where a majority of graphics cards vendors order your product OEM doesn’t have it’s own website?!
Anyway, that’s the same as this, right?

The 7970 label confuses me since it’s a 7950 but I presume the chip is in the same location on the card for both?
