What’s the speed and price?
My Gigabyte R9 270 2Gb OC rev1.0 set me back AUD$220 and I can pull 480kHash/s via BAMT SMOS using cgminer, and on the Win7 machine, using GUIminer it runs at 475kHash/s.
480kHash/s by $220 been 2.18kHash/s per Dollar
With my 2 cards costing $440, I get in total 955kHash/s

Selling 3 of my R9 280x in a few months :) Its getting less profitable as the days goes by…

I have just bought 2x 750 ti’s from Nvidia - they dont take even 60Watt and each will do 250 Khs + with the latest Cudaminer - will have a build and video guide this weekend.
much better KHS per watt than AMD (these are replacing my ageing 5850 and 5830 cards which chow 150Watt each)Can you point me the direction of a good guide im having issues with Ubuntu 12.04 drivers etc. :-(

wow, that’s good prices. Here in sweden we have to pay around 276AUD for that model :( Lands us closer to 1,73kHash/s per dollar.
The 280x here in sweden is 432AUD and can safely crank out 700kHash/s , lands it at 1,62kHash/s per dollar.
With that little difference, it all comes down to factors around the cards, and since the 280x holds the power for almost 2 270-cards it’s worth going for the 280x since the total footprint will be lower :)

You are very right.
I’m also assuming the power consumption for 1x 280x is lower than that of 2x 270.
For a someones first entry level rig though, if you can only afford little but still want something you can play around with, the 270 is all round excellent card.
I’m not sure if it’s voltage locked though, I have tried playing around with that yet. I think I read somewhere that Gigabytes R9 range, are all volt locked.

You can get around any voltage issue by flashing the Asus firmware for that range of cards, the Asus cards come with voltage unlocked.
