Needs more investigating, but Wuher reported to me that Cointron pool has a lot of the network. It seems a bit extreme, so may be an error on the figures on the site.

If there is an error on the calculation, as Serrez suggested “if they (cointron) are 100% of the network they will have most of the blocks” so we can find that way.

Coinotron reports 450 MHash from 325 users i.e. average ~1 MHash per user.

Re: Coinotron reports 450 MHash from 325 FTC miners, ~90% of the network?.

Just did some rough sanity calculations, I beleive there are faults with that hash calculation, on their web site. Possibly, the problem that Wellenreiter has just fixed with p2pool

ie. on p2pool I have 50KHash, I earn 0.7 FTC at current hash rate - when the p2pool wins a round. This means the pool should be 5.7 MHash/sec, but (the unmoded) p2pool is reporting 9.3 MHash/sec.

Its a rough estimate so far and might point at the problem at Coinotron pool figures calculation. In which case they would be less than 50 % of the network.

        50k / X = 0.7 / 80

        X (pool hash rate) = ( 50k * 80 ) / 0.7 = 5,714 KHash/sec = 5.7 MHash/s

Are you using network data from this site or directly from wallet?

For that (very rough) calculation I’m using data from cgminer = p2pool and wallet payments. The p2pool graphs seem correct (so if anything) the totals might need looking at.

Having a look at FTC explorer, that address does seem to be getting a lot of blocks. I assume that is coinotron’s address.

50% isn’t bad by it’s self, unless that power is being abused.

That abuse is much more difficult to do with Feathercoin than Bitcoin and Litecoin, as ACP protects against double spending.

The only disadvantage of that (ACP protection) so far, is under extreme (hash change / multi-pool switching) conditions, it can take a while for the “normal” network to rebuild the blocks, around the problem. That once resulted a delay, while the chain of good blocks became longer than the “bad” blocks and were confirmed / accepted onto the blockchain.
