ISO Standards board formed for "Blockchain technology"
-
Just been informed of this ISO technical resolution:
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT BOARD RESOLUTION 111/2016
Adopted at the 67th meeting of the Technical Management Board, Beijing (China), 10 September 2016
Establishment of a new TC (ISO/TC 307) on Blockchain and electronic distributed ledger technologies
The Technical Management Board,
Noting the comments made by some members during the ballot on TS/P 258,
Further noting the need for participation of a broad range of stakeholders,
Approves the establishment of a new Technical Committee on Blockchain and electronic distributed ledger technologies and allocates the secretariat to SA (Australia),
Requests that the committee clarify its scope and arrange appropriate liaisons with JTC1, TC68, TC154, TC262, TC292, and other appropriate ISO and IEC committees, and
Further requests that the committee ensure that the development of standards related to the core information and communications technology-related standards that underpin blockchain and distributed ledger technologies be developed by TC 307 in Joint Working Groups with JTC 1.
Looks like Australia has the secretariat – for some reason ISO has recently been awarding control of several technical committees to Australia.
