What does feathercoin offer people?
-
I yap quite a bit, so I’ll give others a chance to give their 00000010 cents. I just wanted to say thank you for the honest words about the community, it’s exactly the vibe we’ve been working at maintaining.
-
I think the main thing feathercoin offers for newcomers is it’s very easy to start, we have a lot of help and guides on this forum. If anyone get stuck or something we have a community stand by to help them :).

Similar but not exact to the other thread posted here earlier about “why FTC?” but I want to see what people in this community believe Feathercoin offers merchant, investors, users, etc.One thing I can say that I like and appreciate (and hope doesn’t go away) is the ENTHUSIASM and CAMARADERIE of this community. I’ve not seen this type of community without trolls and assholes (i can be one for sure if you know my reputation - for the right reasons). I have not found a reason to be either a troll/asshole and this a good sign.
Let’s hear what you all have to say concerning what Feathercoin offers newcomers.
How we deal with newcomers has to do with how we view our own project.
A lot of projects go out there with the idea “Our cake is the best!”.
We go out with “Ours is the best cake!”If their ideas are critiqued, they offer rhetoric and excuses for following their path.
We fix the recipe. The main thing is a lot of projects can’t separate features from functions.
Features sell, functions deliver. They treat every detail as holy ground. How many improvements and features for coins actually belong in some kind of library rather than a separate blockchain?
Since we’re not married to the recipe like everybody else we’re more focused on people actually succeeding in using our work.

Not really much I can add to this as it just about sums up how I feel too, but I will…
Having spent a few months on both BTC & LTC forums (when I say few I mean late December Lurking Jan/Feb joining this year) I have gleaned enough information in that time to see what the general consensus was with anything non-bitcoin, I have also seen the rallying support for certain alt’s and also the non-supportive rallying for certain alts and all of the underlying reasons for everyone’s reason, whether I am right or wrong this is what I found:
- BTC < Reminds me of the seagulls sketch in Finding Nemo.
- LTC < Reminds me of Robin Hood except the directors cut will never be released and the producers fell asleep.
- NVC < Could of done something, but fooked up by being shady. (For me anyway).
- FTC < A chance to start again and learn from all of the above.
Also the biggest gripe I have seen with all crypto’s is that people felt that the train had long since left for them, and on the flip side (and quite Ironically) with Feathercoin it always seem to be stopping off and waiting for a few more to jump on board, while all the time seemingly heading in the right direction. < Like I have always said “slow & steady, wins the longest race” 8)

First, it’s nice to see you here Smoothie, I wouldn’t have expected that haha.
Like you said, the Feathercoin community acts very maturely compared to a lot in the alt-coin community. It makes it very promising because they’re worried less about nit-picking fights with people toying with alt-coin releases, and more about helping their coin. That said, I see Feathercoin as being the first coin actually trying to make a big push towards non-tech savvy people. Not only with the PR aspect, but also with the features being developed and suggested to make it an overall user-friendly coin.
Another thing is we all know they want the coin they invested in to succeed. At Bitcoin Talk, a lot of “promoting” is done by unnecessary bashing and troll threads just to get their coin’s name thrown around everywhere. With Feathercoin, the same people can easily put their time into actual constructive projects that help benefit the coin other. It lets those who support the coin know it’s going somewhere because time and effort they’ve contributed are actually being put to use.

Agreed. It’s not why I initially came to FTC, but it’s why I stayed.
Feathercoin is more than a coin … it’s a community within a coin.
When you buy or mine FTC, you’re not just mining a coin, you’re mining a piece of the hard work this community has put into the coin … and that has more value (to me).
:D
Couldn’t have put it better myself. With all of the other coins, despite them being more profitable (for now), I feel like i’m lining some elses pockets and chasing every cent. For some unknown reason, i feel like i’m actually doing something worth while.
I’ve said it before, I think i’m going soft!

I try to steer away from trollish communities. The FTC to me felt just the opposite, I see a ton of dedicated members working hard on FTC and you can always find help if you need it. We have shown the ability to live through rough times on the block chain and when it got attacked the mods were quick to step in. I feel safe using this coin and once we pick up the speed on blocks as the diff drops FTC will be a powerful force.

Well hello there smoothie. I cannot lay my finger on exactly why i like this coin so much or the community so much but perhaps this is more of a CoinMunity. I was pleasantly surprised to find devs who actually give a crap about that which they created and implement community ideas into the code. Up until this coin that was mostly unheard of.
Some of the best trolls are the ones who know when to let loose and when to stand firm.
It’s not the trolling that’s missing from this place, it’s the lameness of it all. :)
