280x is King? I think not...
-
I had nothing but trouble on my Gigabyte 290X cards, might be i just was unlucky, but 2 out of 3 cards were unstable (on stock settings).
Ended up just sending em back :P
-
I’m selling my Sapphire 290x cards right now on eBay, they are so noisy I want to vomit.
The GA 290 is lovely and quiet though…
-
So whats the £/hash and W/hash on the 270x’s then?
I have promised myself no more mining hardware for a bit, as the ATM project hardware and something else I’ve started work on have taken a bit of a beating on the old pocket money but… if they are reasonable I might just build another rig next month ;)

What ATM project? Do tell… I heard about a new POS system in development, that sounds very cool as well.
In AUD, the 270x is $289 retail and spits out 500kh/s. 6 cards undervolted to 1075mv (Just the final clock, I don’t undervolt both clocks) has it pulling 980 watts at the wall and sitting pretty happy at 3 Mh/s. Fans rarely go above 40% and temps are around 60-65 degrees in the Aussie Autumn.
You’d get even better power figures running BAMT and undervolting both clocks to 1081-1087mv…

ATM Project https://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?/topic/6309-open-source-atm/
Almost finished now, just got back in from the workshop to finalise the steel casing for it, to give it a more professional look ;)
We are not talking about the other project yet, there are still a lot of variables in the mix, but I will say I had a nice box of very cool hardware turn up over the weekend :D
I’ll go look at some prices and see how they stack up against a 4 card 280x rig as thats what I’m running now

If I didn’t have to sit next to my cards all day in the warehouse and if they were ever in stock in AUS for more than 15 seconds I would probably run the 280x Toxic… Have you got some photo’s of that ATM? It sounds truly epic…

So what are the the diffs between the 270x toxic, 270x dual or 270x vapor regarding Hash/s ?
Prices here (Netherlands) are:
270x dual € 177,90
270x vapor € 194,90
270x toxic € 209,90

Running Scrypt, 430 for dual, 460 for Vapour-X and 500 for Toxic.
Interestingly, the dual is the most efficient, it’s got the best kh/s to watts ratio.
But hey, if we cared about that we’d all be running 750ti’s…
-
What’s a toxic on wattage use?
I’m considering building two additional rigs and torn between using 270xs or 750tis. I know I can get by with the cheapest 80 Gold Seasonic power supply (though might go with second cheapest) for cramming 6 nvidias, but don’t know about the toxics.

I run them on a Seasonic Gold 1250w PSU. Undervolted, 6 of them hover between 960-1000watts running Scrypt. It will be a bit less for you because you are running BAMT with no HDD and you can undervolt harder on Linux builds. However the fact that you can happily sit on 1175 for engine when I have to run 1160 because I’m running windows, there might be a tiny offset in the other direction, so it will probably be similar figures…
Running stock voltages it’s 1080-1120watts for 6 Toxics.

Seems a lot of miners are selling their GPU’s pretty cheap since some weeks.
Just managed to pick up some 3 months old Sapphire Dual R9 280x for €185,- each :-)
Their loss is my gain :-)

Yeah a lot of people don’t realise GPU mining is where the profits are right now, Algo’s other than Scrypt is where you make your money.
Gridseeds are going to be paperweights when the European Scrypt ASICS hit the market.

I did order 5 of these ‘paperweights’ to see what is going on with them…
But if coins are changing their algos, it all comes to the amount and speed of memory right ? Thats why the asics can’t deal with these new algos if i’m correct.
Wouldn’t that effect the different type of GPU’s also then, because some have 2GB, some 3GB and some 4GB…
-
I had 40 gridseeds, sold them on eBay whilst I could get my money back…
I’m not sure about your question, but I do know with algo’s like Scrypt-Jane, system ram comes into play…

6x Sapphire R9 270x = £1088.94 GBP (ebuyer)… worth it?

Every penny mate, get those badboy’s mining you’ve got yourself a 3Mh/s rig there @ 960 watts, cool and quiet as well…
-
Sapphire Dual R9 270x are €170,- so in pounds you should be able to get a better price

Does anybody have any data for the MSI 270x?
I’ll have a google too, but seeing as its on topic I’m really considering replacing my kit with these :) …plus I don’t believe everything I read on the internet, but from folk on here I do.
-
Not I, but the MSI 280x, you can undervolt the crap outta them, so perhaps it holds true with the 270x as well…
