Hey,
I’ve did some tests as you suggested, testing 1 card at a time and setting them at 1000 clock and 1250 mem clock.

With both the cards that are at 1.2v from stock I can’t go any lower than 1.14v, anytime I try it gives me driver error…
With the card that has 1.163v from stock I can go down till 1.08v, as yours.

So, why can’t I go lower than 1.14v with those 2 cards? Could it be a driver problem? Which driver do you use?
Or what could be the problem?

And, using those 3 cards at, respectively, 1.14v + 1.14v + 1.08v, could I’ve problems using my PSU Corsair AX860? Or I can use it safely?

…if you have any computer experience at all skip GUI miner and use cgminer 3.7.2 or older. If you follow the read me guide for scrypt its really simple.

Yes, im using Cgminer.

I still don’t have actually have them, I will probably get them tomorrow and be starting that mining rig then, so i can’t give wattage values yet.

As for the cgminer config, i dont know how to write the settings for 2 GPU’s. So how exactly do we write the settings when there are 2 GPU’s and what settings would you recommend for initial test?

A pool does ask a client to solve a lower level difficulty, or rather it accepts one as a “share”, which is a proof that your doing work. Eventually a client will happen upon a nonce that produces a hash of a high enough difficulty, and that’s a share too. When the block is found, it contains the address of the pool for the reward, so the solution won’t work if you change it to your own address. This means that you can hash for the pool, and submit lower than acceptable shares as proof that you’re trying, and get paid proportionate to how many shares you can produce, or you can hash for yourself, and hope that you get the higher level difficulty hash, and get it all for yourself.

It’s entirely conceivable that a given client will NEVER produce a hash of the correct difficulty, but will regularly produce hashes of acceptable pool difficulty to capture some percent of the reward anyway.

I used a lead/mechanical pencil. I forgot if it was .5 or .7 mm

fixed it. the computer doesn’t like when I overclock the hd7950. Had the same issue when it was doing it with the hd7870.

I think in time i will get another mobo and start a R9 290 rig. With the 4 5970s i was getting a little over 3 Mh/s, so with the 290 i would expect 3.8 -3.9 Mh/s. As below i am getting about 3.3, but i am down around 375 from the one disabled 5970 core. So i don’t think i am that far off the mark really. Over clocking the R9 seems to make little difference. And i am not to keen on trying the unlock to 290x bios hack as its a new card, and not sure its worth the risk/hassle for 100 Kh/s.

Similar issue, let me try to revive this thread

Powercolor 280x, 13.11, win7 ultimate 64bit, cgminer 3.72

In all my multi gpu rigs, one card is always couple of percent slower, i.e. all cards are 720khash/s, except of one which is 670-90khash/s

one cgminer instance per gpu. Exactly the same cgminer.conf with all gpus, and all gpu’s are identical.

Just a further update to this “dead gpu” in case this happens to someone else.

I plugged the GPU into the motherboard to test it one last time and the monitor display came up, so it was working but the fans were not spinning. So I looked around the GPU and it was the power fan connector on the GPU that had come out somehow, I reconnected it and now the GPU is working and spinning.

I’m really not sure about mixing the gpu threads, I read somewhere that it only takes one input. I’m really hoping that isn’t the same.

I got it to bomb out also on all my cards when the thread count was too high, but then I reduced it and all three cards were running 2 threads each. But can’t get a mix of the gpu threads yet.

I need a good time on the tuning, real work getting in the way, I have tons of videos to edit…

What are your current settings for your 280 toxic if you don’t mind? I’m just using my 7950 congif right now, as have been just trying to get the two threads working before I tweak much else.
