I agree but have seen some crazy stuff when a PSU is working towards its max limits. I also like to have cleaner power since the higher end UPS units have filters, not that my power is “dirty” by any means but the less stress I put on the PSU, the better since its the heart of the system. To each their own in the end.

It is better to go with a pool. It’s a long time to find something is wronging with solo. You can see the shares build up in the pool and catch part block more often, even monitor it remotely via the web.

Also, lot of mining is about fine tuning your rigs.

I use p2pool, it helps secure the network, and there is no login or registration, you put in an address to send the share when the world p2pool gets a block.

3% is because of it beeing PPS pool, Which in my opinion is to little.
3% margin and payout no matter what luck the pool has.

On Top you see (5s) and (avg) which are determining the last 5s hashrate of all your GPUs and the average hashrate of all your GPUs since you started cgminer or reseted the stats.

At every GPU you see the same (but swapped) on the left side the average hashrate on the right the 5s hashrate. So 100K/200K i.e. means you get 100K hashes on avarage but in the last 5s this GPU got 200k. You should rely on the average.

50khs is good for CPU.
GPU mining is much more efficient (maybe you want to checkout this: https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison#Intel).

I don’t think it’s worth to mine scrypt with CPU. I think you should try Primecoins, but even there GPU mining is coming.

OK so I can see how this moves the power from the 24 pin connector, but surely all your doing is moving it from there to the bus connectors?

Again I say I’m no electronics engineer but I would have thought the 24 pin connector had the largest tracks thou the the MoBo as that’s where they are designed to get the power from, not to start dragging it from another PCIe socket.

I’m struggling to find an analogy to use to put this into perspective at the moment, but can fully understand how powered risers (we are all calling them that but is that what they really are?) with the cables back to the board will help as the only place the power can be draw from is the PSU and the only place it can go is to the card plugged into the “riser” but these seam to me like all your going to do is move the power problems from one place to another, and where your moving it to is the tiny tracks of copper printed on your MoBo which can’t be a good thing!

I need to do a little more research on it I must admit, but for me right now these devices are defiantly a no.

Well i have no intentions to setup a (cluster of) centralized pool server (yet).

Startup costs are actually very low.
Apart from making a good looking website there are almost no additional costs.
Server hardware is co-located and rented in VM’s these days and costs peanuts compared to the hardware miners have to buy, install, maintain etc.
Expanding VM’s is just a matter of clicks and selecting a good hosting provider with decent bandwidth to one of the major Internet Exchanges is all it takes.

I wonder where p2pool fits in.
Is this ‘better’ then having some centralized poolserver owners taking your hard earned coins ?
After all miners do run quit some piece of hardware and an additional p2pool server wouldnt be a big problem i guess…

This is only one of several I have and not the best, but wanted to play with getting it working correctly before moving my others. With the group I normally get around 3000 hash. With this one card pool hash is around 150 but when solo is only 10 hash

Sounds like you still has some old amd drivers laying around there.
This is a reaaaally typical problem with 13.1-4 range drivers. It do sound like you havent cleaned away the old drivers properly first.
