those usb stick are dumb units built to decrypt sha256 algoritm, thats their only an single task. which makes em a good paperweight when theyr not worth mining bitcoin with anymore.
scrypt is an whole other ballpark and can not be decryptet by theese units.

that also concurrs with current fpga systems due to the memory intensiveness of scrypt.
making repurpose of old fpga to scrypt not possible.
and also makes it alot more expencive to develop/manufacturing fpga scrypt.

there are rumors about scrypt ASICS time by time.

I take it as it is… a rumor until I see an ASIC miner offered.

The idea is there, but it’s a long way till a product is designed… 8)

what’s you exact operating system, where did you get stuck during installation, what was the error message,…

are help full in order to assist you getting the client running.

As of now the new series do not perform considering price range. Will need a fixed cgminer to optimize it for the new series it seems.
The 290x should push around 1Mhash with some tweaking, but its far from that with 7-800khash

We were simply saying that you should never run more than 3 cards on non-powered risers because it can damage the motherboard. This is exactly what happened in that youtube video.

This motherboard can run 4 cards without powered risers (I don’t use any powered risers), but to be safe you still should use at least 1 powered riser if you use 4 cards.

Found my answers.

Ramp up that clock rate, try 1050 for “gpu-engine” : “925,925”, and 1500 for “gpu-memclock” : “1050,1050”, see what that gives you and then try cranking the intensity to 20. I run at I20 on 7950s and I13 on 7970s.

Agree with svennand. I bought 5* xfx 7970 for one of my rigs and NEVER got above 560Khs.

I sent them all back and now run 20* Gigabyte 7970’s @ 760Khs - blown 4 of them now but they just get replaced on warranty. :)

Are you using a .bat file?

It goes up and down because it’s relying on the last X number of blocks solved and how long it took to solve them where X = number of blocks between re-targets. As hash rate increases, blocks are solved faster and the next difficulty will rise to accommodate. The inverse happens when hash rate drops and blocks are solved slower.

I do have MSI Afterburner. I tried some different clock / memory / voltages settings but it gave me lower hashrates or it crashed. I know the temperature is high. There is no dust in the card. A temperature of 106 makes the card crash. Anything below that seems to work fine.

Could there be anything else that causes my low hashrate?

You can use 8x to pci-e16x risers also. One of these days I’m going to steal the mobo my rig is using and substitute my old computer with it’s three 8x slots. Get to keep my mining hardware and upgrade my computer without having to spend more than the cost of the risers.

my example config had my video card settings. forgot to mention that. if you are unsure about a setting in the config file set it to 0 (auto) or just remove it. to achieve a working cgminer with low end hardware try removing everything from the config and tinkering with just the shaders, worksize, and intensity. Id start with 0, 64, and 12.
