I experience completely the same problem as topicstarter has. But I also have CUDA drivers installed (not sure how to check if they were installed correctly). I created both CUDA and reaper miners, but neither one of them goes forward from CONNECTING stage…

Here are my screenshots:

Ok… I’m retarded.

I went into control panel and looked at the devices. For some reason after the update windows crashed the nvidia card. It required me to restart for it to work. So i restarted and it worked correctly. Sorry for wasting time. :)

make sure you are having hardware errors in cgminer. That can contribute to a lower hashrate on the pool’s statistics.

I had the same errors in my “guiminer.exe.log”, once I updated my graphics card driver the issue was resolved.
Check and make sure your drivers are up to date.

I just want to add a comment to this thread as you just solved my problem.
I was trying to get cgminer running on my Windows 7 machine, but it didn’t recognise the --scrypt option.

This problem was with version 3.8.4. Now I downloaded version 3.1.0 as you recommended, and it works as it should :)

i am unaware of smos. i will look into it. shsh wont give me a gui. But if windows 8 provides support for 6 cards i will probably take that route. I like the power of cgwatcher to keep my mines alive.
